Xhaka fuels Milan talk with cryptic answer: “Every now and then you think about it”

Granit Xhaka has admitted that he sometimes thinks about trying out an experience in a new league amid the links with AC Milan.

Milan continue to be linked with a plethora of different midfield targets, as if the Tijjani Reijnders money (which hasn’t arrived yet) is already burning a hole in the pockets of the directors). The latest name put forward by the reliable Matteo Moretto is Xhaka.

Moretto stated on X: “Milan, Granit Xhaka idea. He is one of the profiles in the list to reinforce the midfield. Still no direct contact between the parties. The Swiss footballer is open to a new experience and could really leave Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.”

Xhaka on his future

On the eve of the friendly match that Switzerland will play tomorrow against Mexico, one that Santiago Gimenez is expected to feature in, Xhaka spoke at a press conference about his future. MilanNews relayed his response to a question about a potential move.

“I haven’t played everywhere yet. As a result, every now and then you think about it. At the moment, however, these thoughts are very far away. I have my family and my management who take care of these things. Do I already have an offer on the table? I don’t know that,” he said.

It is certainly far from the Swiss captain ruling anything out, even if he does have a very important role with Leverkusen. Given the big changes there, with Xabi Alonso and Jeremie Frimpong having left and with Florian Wirtz to follow, Xhaka might well take the leap.

      1. Agree! But the one who knows Lottito better than anyone in the world, is Igli Tare! He’s not a genius sports manager, but he should at least be able to sign players from Lazio easily! 😀

    1. He’s actually a pretty solid midfielder aside from his temper. Have you seen his number at Leverkusen. He was instrumental in their title run.

    2. xhaka is better than the two combined.with far more experience.if we can get rovella which i doubt we can,its still okay.then we add a player like xhaka for 2 yrs.my problem is still d lack of creative midfielder as we have only been linked with defensive midfielder only

  1. Great player and would be a top signing for a year or two… but I don’t trust this management not to put him on a three year contract until he’s 36 (he’s nearly 33) and he has a game that relies on covering a lot of ground.
