Tuttosport: Zaniolo’s Galatasaray deal features Inter ploy and ‘Milan clause’

By Oliver Fisher -

Nicolo Zaniolo will complete a move to join Galatasaray today but that does not completely close the door on a potential future move to AC Milan, a report claims.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (as seen below) writes that Zaniolo will have a ‘Milan clause’ in his new contract that he will sign with Galatasaray until 2027 today. The Turkish club reached an agreement with Roma at €15m fixed and €8m in easily achievable bonuses.

This was a ploy from the Giallorossi given that Inter are owed 15% of the proceeds from a potential future resale but it is calculated on the fixed amount of the sum and not the bonuses.

However, the agreement also includes a release clause of €35m which represents a ‘way out’ to return to Italy in the summer, with Milan still in the background. It is a clause that will be valid from this coming summer and will drop to between €28-30m next year and €23-25m in 2025.

  1. seriously? Those bastards wanted 35M from Milan and then they sell for 23M? I’d black list them if I was in Milan managment

    1. Yes, it happens pretty often. Clubs ask for more cash when they sell to a direct rival. Sad to admit we are rivals with both Roman teams now.

    2. he is not that bright tho. refuses a transfer to eng then a week later goes to turkey. might have at least sit it out for half a year and get a better transfer in the summer

  2. Milan wanted to snitch for “free” in January Zaniolo. And give them in summer (if Milan reach Champions League) not so big amount of 23mill. So Zaniolo is definitely end of story and we should not read about this player anymore. He will not be Milan player ever. He left in League that is 10x less stronger than Serie A. It is funny that Icardi is there too.

    1. Well if it looks like, swims like and quacks like one maybe it is a duck, no? Turkish leauge has been providing ample grounds for reinvigorating or jump starting certain players’ careers for a while now. Fernando, Sneijder, Drogba, Marcao, Weghost, Alex Telles, Kim Min-jae, Torreira and Nelsson just to name a few. Looking at the first 11 of Galatasaray today, I see no reason why it couldn’t have been a contender for the Europa Cup had they have been performing there this season. Maybe it’s time we acknowledge that turkish leauge is not a retirement league anymore and if certain teams can stay financially stable, steady growth can lead to reignite the boom they experienced in early noughties. Maybe the fact that these players making these decisions is neither funny nor misguided after all. Just some food for thought.

    1. I am a Gala fan since childhood.. Not sure if we needed this transfer.. It is speculative at best and big risk for us. Fingers crossed though. I hope he outperforms.

  3. This is ridiculous. If the clause was 25 I think it’s much more reasonable for him to come to us this summer but 35? Come on, you know that’s not happening. He may have just sealed his future for the next few years, what a bad choice.
