CM: Why an announcement on Milan’s new coach will not come anytime soon

By Oliver Fisher -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Geoffrey Moncada are working together to plan the AC Milan of the future, but fans will have to wait a while longer for official statements.

According to Calciomercato.com, Ibrahimovic and Moncada are at work as a team (and with excellent harmony) both on the mercato and on the choice of the new Milan coach to replace Stefano Pioli.

In most cases the profiles have been selected and contacted by the latter while the former is then responsible for the final choice and the report to Gerry Cardinale.

It os a process that will not be done in a few days but will take a medium to long time for a very simple reason: Milan must evaluate all aspects at 360 degrees, every detail can make a difference both positively and negatively.

We start from one certainty, probably the only one at the moment: Milan will only draft the official press release on the appointment of the new coach once the season is over. This is because there is a feeling of strong respect from society for the professional and the man Pioli.

The Rossoneri will then, in all likelihood, have to find an economic agreement relating to the severance pay for Pioli given that the current agreement will expire in 2025.

However, this is a subsequent step that will be prepared according to the intentions of the current coach in charge, given that he has been linked with the Napoli job.

  1. According to all that information we know one thing, it won’t be a top coach… they try to find a coach with low expectations that they’ll all like.

So either they’ll risk with a coach with potential (Motta, Coenciao) which can be either spectacular fail or success, or choose a mediocre experienced coach (eg Fonseca), which is kind of a guarantee of being not-terrible and not-great. Either way this doesn’t really look good for Milan in terms of trying to catch-up with Inter for Scudetto.

  2. Well, this makes sense…. too much storm already. Things need to calm down and let’s finish this season in a good way. Including giving Pioli a good send off.
