Adli explains how his BBQ united the Milan squad even more: “I took it as a sign”

By Isak Möller -

In his long interview with SportWeek, Yacine Adli was asked about the relationship with his teammates and the respect he has earned during his time at AC Milan. An important event, in that sense, took place last year.

Ahead of the final game of the 2022/23 season, Adli decided to host a BBQ at his house as the Milan players got a day off. Every single player showed up to the event, which was an opportunity for them to bond further and spend some quality time together off the pitch.

In the interview with SportWeek, Adli was asked about the BBQ and the midfielder stated that he was very happy to see all of the players showing up. For him, that was the perfect way to understand that he had gained the respect of his teammates.

“The coach wasn’t invited because it would have meant inviting all his staff and it would have taken three houses (laughs), I invited my teammates and their families, and they all came. I got the confirmation of the respect they have for me. Rain was the forecast for that day, but instead it was sunny. I took it as a sign. A beautiful day that united the group even more,” he stated.

While it might not sound like something special, having a player like Adli in the squad is very important. At the end of the day, you need someone who can bring everyone together, which is exactly what the Frenchman does.

  1. Adli will be Captain material in a few years if he keeps improving his game. Every young player should have his mentality. The fact that he was doing something like this even when Pioli was keeping out of the team speeks volumes. What a great guy ✨
