Cardinale ‘not happy’ with Milan’s position but highlights: “It’s a marathon”

By Isak Möller -

In his Christmas message to the AC Milan fans, the club owner Gerry Cardinale admitted that he isn’t happy with the team’s current positions. However, he also highlighted that patience is needed for such an ambitious project.

Milan were knocked out of the Champions League, finishing third in the group of death, and will thus play in the Europa League next year. Furthermore, they are currently nine points behind city rivals Inter in the league standings.

In his Christmas message to the fans, therefore, the club owner Cardinale stated that he isn’t happy with the current situation. He did, however, also highlight that Milan’s project is a ‘marathon’ and not a sprint, with patience needed.

“Like all of you, I am not content with our current position in Serie A or Champions League, but I know from my decades in sports that sporting competition is a marathon, not a sprint, and there is a virtue to continuity and consistency,” he stated.

Milan will face Salernitana away from home this evening (Friday) and three points are needed to continue the recent good form. The Arechi side, led by Filippo Inzaghi, will be desperate to at least claim a point as they currently are at the bottom of the league standings.

  1. Guess what “boss”, it’s your doing. Who p*ssed on the project that brought us Scudetto and decided to have his own little project with algorithms and analysis while have in charge tards that don’t understand the world of football or heritage this club has?

    1. As opposed to what?

Careless spending right and left with the money we don’t have, buying players no one wants? Like the banter years? like what Roma is doing? 🙂

You only see the negatives…. Wipe your glasses, man. If you’re gonna criticize the ownership then at least have the balls to admit what they did right.

  2. It absolutely is a marathon.

However, we’ve somehow managed to trip and get road rash. Stub our toe. Lost a shoe. Slammed 4 beers. Sprinted the first mile and now it seems we’re stopping and getting a hot dog at a vendor cart.

It’s a marathon alright. Hopefully the rest of the pack start doing the things we’re doing to even the race.

  3. Of course he is not happy. Shot himself in the foot. He had a winning board of directors who were milan fans through and through and understood football better than baldy or the bankers.

Its so contradictory. Claim it’s a marathon but does the sprinting thing. As an ode to the “virtue to continuity” he fires the people who were symbols of continuity and who were running the marathon (ie the long game right?!) .Then proceeded to sprint by selling the continuity (Tonali, Messias etc) and buying all new sprinters. Then says marathon not a sprint but also disappointed with the current results??? If it’s a marathon he shouldn’t worry that we got knocked out of the UCL, nor should he be worried that we are third….after all it’s a fcking marathon right? What an iddy
