Il Cittadino: Crucial green light for Milan’s stadium project expected within a week

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are persisting with their plan to try and build a new stadium in the San Donato area of the city, and significant developments are expected soon.

Despite the latest attempts by the mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, to get the new San Siro project back on track with a €300m renovation project, the Rossoneri are moving forwards quickly towards a new home in San Donato.

As per Il Cittadino (via MilanNews), Milan are preparing to receive a first fundamental official green light to then begin the long process which should be completed within a couple of years with the signing of the Program Agreement by the Region.

In the next few days (probably this week), the Council of the Milanese area will give their green light to the urban planning variant proposal presented on 27 September by SportLifeCity, a company controlled by Milan.

After the proposal arrived on the Council’s desk, the preliminary investigation phase was held by their technicians which resulted in some concerns regarding infrastructures, roads and environmental compensation respectively.

The Rossoneri leaders will have to provide official feedback on these critical issues to address all the factors which could translate into inconvenience for the citizens of San Donato and South Milan.

Milan are therefore moving forward quickly with its project which the mayor Francesco Squeri intends to present shortly to all the citizens of San Donato.

Meanwhile, yesterday, a Board of Directors meeting took place at Milan which approved the acquisition of some land which would be functional for the new stadium.
