CM: Milan in talks with agent of centre-back Aston Villa paid €31m for

By Oliver Fisher -

Further information has arrived claiming that AC Milan are interested in signing Diego Carlos from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.

The report first came from Diario AS yesterday, and now Calciomercato.com have confirmed that Milan want the Brazilian defender. Geoffrey Moncada has started the first contacts over a deal, with his agent Bertolucci.

Alessandro Buongiorno of Torino, Lilian Brassier of Brest and Maxrence Lacroix of Wolfsburg are candidates that remain on the list for Milan, but they could sign two defenders before next season given the possible exits.

Simon Kjaer is out of contract at the end of the season while Malick Thiaw has several offers from Germany and Spain. If two players leave, then it is likely that two players will have to arrive.

An investment in the role is planned and Moncada is trying for Carlos, who is no longer an immovable starter under Unai Emery at Aston Villa after the arrival of Pau Torres last summer. The director likes the 31-year-old because of his leadership, experience, ability in the air and marking.

The operation for the Rossoneri can be considered quite complex. Aston Villa wants to recoup a large part of the €31m investment they made two years ago to snatch him from Sevilla, while he still has two years left on his deal.

  1. Calafiori and Scalvini are my favorite defenders that Millan can buy at the moment. They are expensive but I would prefer go for one of them rather that Diego Carlos or anyone else this article is mentioning.

    1. Calafiori is not expensive at all. If 25 mil is expensive on todays market, then Cardinale/Eliot might just sell the club and be done with it. Btw he costed 13mil mid season when i said get Calafiori on this page. And in the summer when he was offered to Milan he costed 4mil, but top useless scout Moncada didn’t wanted him. I guess he was too Italian for him.

      1. Moncada had nothing to do with that. He scouted Calafiori before anyone else. It was actually Pioli who declined the signing of Calafiori and asked for Pellegrino instead…

  2. Apart from being cr@p he also earns 3M€ net. Might as well renew kjaer and start integrating simic for the long term.

  3. Better sell Thiaw and Kalulu, and buy with most of their money Scalvini or Calafiori. One of them, Tomori, Gabbia and Simic would be good.

  4. We do need a leader and a senior presence in the team, especially defense. But that’s a steep price. Can we get Thiago Silva on a free instead?
