CM: Porto clause and Brighton decline – why Conceicao and De Zerbi are options for Milan

By Euan Burns -

FC Porto’s Sergio Conceicao and Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi are still options for AC Milan to replace Stefano Pioli this summer.

As has been reported by Calciomercato.com, the net is still being cast very wide when it comes to a replacement for Pioli and names that were previously considered out of the running are back in the frame.

Conceicao signed a new contract with Porto recently, but subsequent reports and a presidential election at the club have cast serious doubt over his future. It turns out the renewal was only going to be triggered by the existing president getting a new term, but Andre Villas-Boas has become the president instead.

As for De Zerbi, there is a €15m release clause which makes him a very expensive coach, but Milan and the coach himself could work on trying to reduce that.

The primary bargaining chip in that regard is Brighton’s rapid decline in form as the season has progressed, with the Seagulls now sitting 12th, scoring just one goal in April.

De Zerbi has always been clear that he would like to return to Milan where he was once a player, but it will take some negotiation with the Premier League club.

  1. If there is even slight posibbility that we can snatch up De Zerbi I would go all in on him. Imagine getting someone like De Zerbi on the bench. The instant impact he would have on players, especially Leao, and then on out transfer window as well.

  2. I mean… I am just looking for a logic…

Incompetent board could not even made an offer to Motta when he decided not to renew with Bologna.

They knew, I mean we all knew Pioli would fail eventually.

Then they approached Nopetegui because he was down to receive what Pioli was receiving $$$

And suddenly, they are ‘considering’ De Zerbi… Again considering?

In November, they already mentioned they would not give 1 dollar for Brighton to get their coach…

What is the point of writing this nonsense unreasonable article again and again for clicks?

PR team is using Zirkzee’s name since autumn too. There is absolutely ZERO chance that we will sign Zirkzee. Arsenal already presented 5 year lucrative contract to Zirkzee and are willing to pay around 70 million €

This website admins know that but they won’t tell this in here because they need keep using Zirkzee’s name for PR and clicks

    1. Maybe because De Zerbi has a release clause of 15 million but since he only won six games in his last 28 Brighton would be willing to let him go for cheaper. Having said that is De Zerbi our best option?

    1. He’s a system coach. If all the players don’t buy into his Sarrismo system it fails miserably. Just look at Lazio.
