CM: The truth about Milan’s interest in Arsenal and Barcelona centre-backs

By Isak Möller -

It’s no secret that AC Milan are looking to reinforce the team with at least one centre-back in January. Several players have been linked with the club, therefore, and two targets have been mentioned a bit more than the others.

The likes of Pierre Kalulu, Marco Pellegrino and Malick Thiaw are currently on the sidelines and Simon Kjaer only just recovered from his injury. Therefore, Theo Hernandez has been playing as a centre-back lately and Milan clearly could use another player in January.

According to Calciomercato.com, one of the key targets is Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior, who has struggled to get consistent playing time this season. The Gunners have not opened to a loan formula yet, though, and Milan are preparing a new attempt in the coming days.

In addition to the Polish international, Milan also have Clement Lenglet on their wish list. The Frenchman is currently on loan at Aston Villa but hasn’t played a single minute in the league, thus keen on moving elsewhere in January.

Lenglet is still owned by Barcelona and to sign him, Milan would need significant help from the Spanish side with the salary. More updates are expected in the coming weeks, with the Rossoneri management working hard on the matter already.
