CorSport: €23m Real Madrid forward an option for Milan in January

By Oliver Fisher -

Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz represents a possible option for AC Milan in the January transfer window, according to a report.

The Rossoneri have scored just 11 goals in their first 12 games of the season, their lowest return in 25 years, and several reports have linked the club with a move for a big-name striker in January.

An interesting update from Claudio Raimondi to SportMediaset on Italia Uno (via MilanNews.it) earlier in the week identified five possible targets that Milan may go after.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Mario Manduzkic, Olivier Giroud and Dries Mertens were four of the names he mentioned, however Raimondi also claimed that Mariano Diaz could come back into fashion after links in the summer.

Now, an update on Calciomercato.com – who cite il Corriere dello Sport – claims that Diaz represents a ‘viable option’ for Milan in the January window as they look to reinforce their attack.

The Dominican has not played a single competitive minute under Zinedine Zidane so far this season and does not appear to be part of their plans, despite being brought back from Lyon for €23m (as per Wikipedia).
