Gallery: ‘Adli has disappeared’, ‘Pioli emergency’ – Today’s headlines of Gazzetta dello Sport

By Isak Möller -

The international break is in full swing and it’s a necessary one for AC Milan, who have struggled big time in the last few weeks. There are several questions to answer and this was highlighted by a newspaper this morning.

In addition to the poor run of form, the injury struggles have not exactly improved. Rafael Leao will miss at least the Fiorentina game, while Olivier Giroud has been suspended for two games. For Pioli, therefore, these are tough times.

The international break, therefore, must be used to solve the injury struggles as well as recover those who already are on the sidelines.

The headlines

Gazzetta dello Sport highlighted the main dilemmas on their front page this morning: “Milan and trouble. Adli has disappeared, two-game ban for Giroud.”

Inside the newspaper, the topics were further discussed, starting with the heavy absences in the upcoming games: “Giroud: two-game ban. He will be back against Atalanta. Leao is also out against Fiorentina. Pioli emergency, replacing the Frenchman is mission impossible.”

The outcasts, with a particular focus on Yacine Adli, were also highlighted in the main feature: “The forgotten ones. Adli the regista who doesn’t direct any more. Pellegrino and Romero unknowns at Milan.”

  1. Hard month(s) for ACM. The fact is that Trainer always knows much more then Journalists,Trainer is the only one who has all informations abut inside standings. He surely has notice,as we all did, that Adli is top form. Why is he sitting on bench(not even exchanged!)and dead wood Krunić play …only Mr. Pioli knows.Romero will have to grow up,he is young,no need to rush him.Pellegrino too.Adli is comparing to former season 25% strongerLet’s just hope he’ll be excluded from injuries. His time at ACM will come,no doubt..it just take some time and patience

  2. Yet there are fans on this site who prefer to see
    a) Krunic passing backwards time after time (even at added time when we’re trailing), contributing nothing to the attacking play and playing as dull as possible instead of
    b) Adli perhaps making a mistake or two but actually passing the ball forwards and giving the fans some positive feelings and excitement every now and then.

I’m one of those who prefer to see “ups and downs” (Adli) instead of “boring as f***”-backpassing the whole 90 minutes. Football is about scoring more goals than the opponent. Krunic is on the pitch only to play 0-0. Who wants to see that? No one.

    1. I agree Adli hasn’t looked perfect but he’s looked more dangerous than Krunic. Krunic is marginally better defensively and seems to understand the tactics better (but that comes with playing time). I’d rather have Bennacer/Adli than Bennacer/Krunic at the end of the day
