GdS: Calabria and Kalulu return for Atalanta clash – the latest on Tomori

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan will take on Atalanta at San Siro tomorrow and Stefano Pioli will be able to count on two important returns, as per a report. The defenders Davide Calabria and Pierre Kalulu will both be called up by the manager.

Calabria and Kalulu returned to group training earlier this week, now deemed to be in good enough condition to get a call-up. The captain has only been missing since the 1-0 win against Napoli, but the Frenchman has been sidelined since the 2-2 draw against Napoli in October.

According to today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below), both of them should be called up for the game against Atalanta tomorrow. Fikayo Tomori has also returned to training but he still needs a bit more time, with the Lazio clash in his sights.

It remains to be seen if Pioli will opt for Malick Thiaw or Simon Kjaer in the heart of the defence tomorrow, though, as the German has been struggling since his return. And Milan have had big troubles overall in the defensive phase, which is something that must be fixed.

Pioli is hoping that the aforementioned returns will help stabilise the defence, but something must also be changed tactically as Milan have given their opponents way too much space.
