GdS: ‘Arabia on the attack’ – Milan defender wanted in the Saudi Pro League

By Oliver Fisher -

At the moment the chances of Simon Kjaer remaining with AC Milan into next season seem quite low, and a potential destination has reportedly emerged for him.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) writes how there is a sigh of relief regarding Kjaer’s physical condition after he came off after around 65 minutes of the friendly between Denmark and Switzerland on Friday.

The centre-back underwent an MRI scan which did not reveal any muscle injuries so he remains available to the Danish national team for the next friendly match, scheduled for tomorrow evening against the Faroe Islands at Brondby’s stadium.

The paper also spoke about the future of Kjaer beyond the end of the season, remarking that it is unlikely that he will sign an extension on his current deal which expires in June.

Where could the 34-year-old go to play if his time at Milan ends after four and a half seasons? La Gazzetta suggest that he could go to the Saudi Pro League, where clubs have already courted him in the past months.

He is not the only one who might head out to the Middle East, though, because Juan Cuadrado and Alexis Sánchez of Inter, Nahitan Nández of Cagliari, Chris Smalling and Romelu Lukaku of Roma (the latter owned by Chelsea) could all be in Saudi by 2024-25.

  1. He’s not available for the next friendly and he said in an article that the Middle East was not something he would want to do.
It’s all speculations and not updated news.
