GdS: Probable XIs for Milan vs. Sassuolo – Pulisic-Giroud-Leao front three

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan entertain Sassuolo at San Siro tonight looking to end a streak of three consecutive home defeats against them, with a win also needed to secure Stefano Pioli’s job.

This morning’s edition of the newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) has the predicted teams for the 18:00 CET kick-off, starting with Milan who should line up with Davide Calabria, Simon Kjaer, Theo Hernandez and Alessandro Florenzi in front of Mike Maignan.

The paper have the midfield trio as Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ismael Bennacer and Tijjani Reijnders from right to left, with the Algerian therefore playing a slightly deeper role at the base of the three.

The attacking trident is tipped to be the one that Pioli now appears to consider his first choice: Christian Pulisic on the right, Rafael Leao on the left and Olivier Giroud down the middle.

Lapo Nava, Jan-Carlo Simic, Davide Bartesaghi, Chaka Traore and Francesco Camarda should all make the bench, meaning there is a heavy Primavera representation in a squad that continues to be battered by injury problems.

Probable Milan XI (4-3-3): Maignan; Calabria, Kjaer, Theo, Florenzi; Loftus-Cheek, Bennacer, Reijnders; Pulisic, Giroud, Leao.

Probable Sassuolo XI (4-2-3-1): Consigli; Toljan, Erlic, Tressoldi, Pedersen; Henrique, Thorstvedt; Berardi, Bajrami, Lauriente; Pinamonti.
