Journalist explains why Man Utd draw would have been different for Milan ‘a month ago’

After just about securing their spot in the last 16 of Europa League, knocking out Red Star Belgrade, Milan have been handed their next opponent: Man Utd. A very tough clash for the Rossoneri, but an interesting one.

Stefano Pioli’s men are going through a rough period with two consecutive losses in Serie A and two draws against Red Star. They advanced on away goals against the latter and it’s clear that they need to improve a lot.

Man Utd are of very high quality and with this form, it will be very difficult for Milan to knock them out. Speaking on Sky Italia (via MilanNews), Peppe Di Stefano spoke about the draw and how the players reacted to it.

As he highlighted, the feeling would have been very different one month ago, when the team was still performing quite well. Either way, it’s an important test for Milan as they want to play in the Champions League next season.

“If such a draw had come a month ago, it would have been faced with greater serenity. Now the moment is negative, but I have seen the desire to reverse the current situation. The physiological decline is there, but against United, Bennacer and Mandzukic should return,” he stated.
