Earlier today, Milan were drawn Man Utd for the Europa League round of 16, having advanced against Red Star on away goals. A tough clash for the Rossoneri, of course, but an equally exciting one.
Had it been a month or two ago, the situation would have looked better for Stefano Pioli’s men, who have struggled a lot as of late. Nevertheless, it will be nice to see them face a team of the highest calibre in a European competition again.
In an interview with MilanTV, as you can see in the video below, Simon Kjaer spoke about Milan’s current situation and the EL draw. He’s very happy with it, especially since they need to beat them anyway if they want to win the competition.
“It’s normal that there are tough periods, that’s football, it’s normal. We’re always hungry to do well, the coach is pushing us to bounce back immediately to show us that we are a great team. We know the work we are doing is right.
“Man Utd? I prefer to play against the best and Man Utd are one of the best in the Europa League, it’s like a Champions League draw so it’s great for me. If we want to win the competition, we need to beat them anyway. Facing them now or later doesn’t make a difference.
