Ex-Milan defender Kerkez scores winner vs. Lazio and imitates Theo Hernandez – photo

By Oliver Fisher -

Milos Kerkez was the hero for AZ Alkmaar last night as he scored the winner against Lazio in the Conference League last 16 first leg, and he chose an interesting celebration.

Calciomercato.com recall how Kerkez was sold by Milan to AZ for a fee of €2m but he has never stopped idolising Theo Hernandez and studying him even from a further distance, and he even chose to imitate his celebration after netting at the Olimpico last night.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato.com) recently reported that Real Sociedad and Benfica want to sign Kerkez having been observing his development closely but the Rossoneri reserved the right to match any future offer that comes in for him.

  1. If only he had a little bit more patience he’d be the LB backup instead.of Ballo.
The scouting department did well, unfortunately the will of the player….

    1. The problem is that he was given no path to the first team, it was blocked by signing Ballo Toure. Despite this guy showing obvious class.
If a player is good enough, they are old enough.
      Give youth a chance!!

Get rid of B.T and promote Bozzolan please. It’s not like BT contributes anything, so better to integrate a guy like Bozzolan.

      1. Balo-Toure has barely played but he scored a 3 pointer for us. Respect players and give them credit for what they do.

    2. No he wouldn’t. Let’s be real, if he was still in Milan he would have been stuck in the youth team. Pioli is just terrible in integrading players. Even senior players only get a chance if someone from the starting lineup is injured or booked.

    3. If only management wouldn’t have given in to the demands of an unproven kid who was signed to a long term deal and instead worked out a plan for BT to eventually depart so that Kerkez could eventually back up Theo…no need for us to sell Kerkez especially for only 2M – goes against our whole youth policy of cheap young players with potential. Should have refused his wishes and make him learn and he would have received his chance. Or at least insert a low buy-back clause or percentage of future sale etc…2M doesn’t buy much of anything. We need an experienced negotiator in our management team. We can def find talent but cannot negotiate deals. Terrible

      1. You guys are correct including Rossi above.
I think it may have been different though because we had situations where both Theo and Ballo were out. He’d def had a shot to shine and I think once u perform well like Thiaw that trust is gained quickly on to the coach. Kinda like Kalulu

  2. Another great job by our scouts.
Another Poor job by everyone else, from management to coach in not giving him the chance to be part of the first team or their ability to even keep him and just send him on loan
