L’Equipe: Giroud set to join LAFC in the summer as Milan renewal fades

By Isak Möller -

Olivier Giroud is expected to leave AC Milan in the summer after opening talks with the MLS club Los Angeles FC. In fact, according to a report, the move has more or less been agreed already and the striker will thus say goodbye to San Siro.

Giroud joined Milan from Chelsea in 2021 and has since scored 46 goals for the club in 121 appearances. This season, at the age of 37, he’s en route to beating his personal best with the Rossoneri in terms of goals and assists (25 last season, 23 now).

According to L’Equipe, at the end of his contract with Milan, the striker ‘should sign’ for the MLS side LAFC and thus join his compatriot Hugo Lloris. Giroud has made up his mind already, more or less, and now his focus is to end in the best way possible with the Rossoneri.

Indeed, it will not be that easy for Milan to replace him, or at least it will require a lot of money. Viktor Gyökeres is one of the strikers that have been linked with the club and as per reports this morning, the Rossoneri may have to put €50m on the table.

For now, however, Milan will enjoy the final months of Giroud’s tenure at the club and the dream is to win the Europa League.
