L’Equipe: Milan handed boost as Thuram rejects Paris-Saint Germain offer

By Isak Möller -

Marcus Thuram’s contract with Borussia Monchengladbach will expire at the end of the month and AC Milan have made him an offer. The Rossoneri have now been handed a boost, with PSG out of the race.

Thuram is the priority for the attack and Milan have already tabled a contract offer worth at least €5m per year. The striker is yet to respond but according to L’Equipe, he has rejected the offer from Paris Saint-Germain.

This puts Milan in a very good position as the French striker is expected to make his final decision in the coming days. The Rossoneri are able to offer him a key role in the project and guaranteed playing time, which is something PSG couldn’t do.

Milan are also expected to welcome Daichi Kamada on a free transfer at the end of the month. The Japanese international has agreed o sign a contract worth €3m per year and just the paperwork and the medical remain before it can be announced.

  1. Thuram and Kamada on free transfers is a great start to the mercato.

Selling Tonali to Newcastle creates a lot of uncertainty but also gives Moncada/Furlani money to make significant investments.

Minimum additions needed now are a right winger and two central midfielders. Money needs to be spent on these priorities. Big possibilities!

    1. I agree – I just hope they don’t pull a Kaka moment and not reinvest “significantly” – SMS level quality – but I think they know they need to calm some of these rabid fans down with a marquee signing. I hope so anyway 🙏

      1. Yep, they aren’t stupid, you don’t become a millionaire by being an idiot unless you’re a rapper. As long as we aren’t owned by the Chinese and the Arabs I’m happy, wish it could’ve been an Italian but yeah. R.I.P Berlusconi.

  2. Ha ha ha.
I’m not even the biggest Thuram fan but if Milan gets it done it proves a certain section of the people commenting here wrong, again.
-Milan won’t be able to sell the project and attract quality players without Maldini. Wrong , Milan is top 2 club of all time, not Roma.
    – in 2 weeks Furlani was able to accomplish something that Maldini couldn’t do in 4 years, beat PSG, Leipzig or any other German club for a transfer target.
    – Also based on the salary he’d get proves that Maldini chose not to sign Dybala last summer even though the CEO was pushing for him. Thuram salary is higher than what Dybala got at Roma.
Thuram is a Milanista even while his father was playing for Juventus
Thuram or Arnautovic. I think Thuram is better

    1. I’d be happy to admit being wrong if the club gets this done. Nothing to do with Maldini etc, I thought he would be nailed on for Paris, Atletico or Juventus

Article premise seems a bit weird though; why would he actively reject Paris’ offer of a contract unless he wants them to offer a bigger one?

      1. Understandably, your mind is creating negative scenarios and it can’t believe that a player could reject PSG over Milan, because you, just like the rest of us, got used to getting rejected by players under the previous sporting management.

    2. I’m not 100% sold on him as a striker either but as he’s a Milanista and if he arrives and does well that’ll all change ❤️🖤

    3. “Thuram or Arnautovic. I think Thuram is better”

Hmmm…. I’d say Arnautovic. And he has proven himself in Serie A. BUT… In the long run Thuram is the wiser choice. Let’s just hope he can score double digits (first as Giroud’s backup and then next season +20 goals as #9). 😀

      1. I think he will be a starter straight away. Seems like this is part of the offer on the table. It would be poor form to have him sign and then go back on that. I think the bigger issue is if Thuram is going to be what we need him to be at all.

        1. “I think he will be a starter straight away.”

Heh, remember the head coach? Mr. Pioli. Not a fan of new players. I think Thuram MIGHT be ready to start after Christmas. 😀

          1. Your head coach make giroud starter in 1st season also theo, maignan,. He given chance CDK starting line up in few early match serie A but too bad CDK bad perform make him trust brahim again. He phone call marcus guarantee marcus will become main striker not giroud back up . AC Milan offer 5m euro salary nett + bonus 1m euro thats 2nd highest in club below leao . With that salary if pioli not starting him trust me furlani will persuade pioli to play marcus . It is the same case Maldini persuade pioli to play CDK till 1470 minute . I hope ACM can get marcus so they can allocating budget for DMF & RW

    4. As a relative neutral in the Maldini v. Redbird argument, I think it’s too early to start waiving the Redbird victory flag. Thuram is not worth 5m per year. Sorry. This can easily blow up in management’s face if Thuram ends up scoring less then Giroud. So only time will tell. Same goes for those attacking the current developments in the market (i.e. Tonali). This summer market can only be judged next summer, after the results are in.

    5. Ok others might get proved wrong…but also dumb a** like pioli and fake pioli like you also gave chance get proved wrong for trusting Redbird alot..hahah

    6. Stop crying and grow up ..it feels like you hate maldini a lot..anyways he also done good for the club…not all can be perfect and do perfect business like you as you do on fm or fifa ..

    7. wow Poli, now that there is some positive news about transfer suddenly you coming out of your cave, where have you been for the past 2 days? wait dont you remember that ndicka rejected us for conference league Roma? LOL wkwkwk

  3. Until when should we keep talking about maldini, he is gone, do we have some insecurities???, our mercato is to improve the squad and to make the fans dream again, its not a contest against ex employees, dont keep turning some sections of the fans against the club

  4. its easy to sign free agent when you don’t have 4.5 mil cap .
sign Marcus Thuram’s for more then 5 mil will only create problems with Theo and Leao that are 10 times the plyers Marcus will ever be .
Maybe that’s there target, to push for the sell of all the expensive players.

  5. Thuram isn’t worth 6M season and SO FAR hasn’t shown he is worthy of that amount of money – but market dictates what a player will get – and we are desperate for a striker – so if we add him it’s a good start. Just wouldn’t hold my breath that he all of a sudden becomes this prolific goal scorer. I pray I’m wrong but he hasn’t been lighting it up in Germany which is an easier league to score in that Italy. We will see.

AND – If we get him it’s not because Furlani dip$hits it’s because we went OVER THE WAGE CAP (6M) to sign him lol. Again conveniently we forget that FACT. Had we stuck at our 4M-4.5M wage cap – he would be PSG bound. Wake up man.

Kamada deal was already done before M&M was sacked. No credit there.

Where is all that UCL $$$ going? Use it to buy SMS, Guler kid, RW etc…let’s go Gerry you cheap bastard keep buying

    1. “Thuram isn’t worth 6M season”

      😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

How hilarious is this?!!! The guy who has been saying for a year that the value is what clubs are willing to pay. Remember that? You were all over that when we were talking about Leao and his demands. It might have even started with Kessie’s demands. And here were are. Not worth the money? Looook who’s talking!!! 😀 😀 😀 😀

      Priceless. Absolutely priceless.

      1. Did you read ALL of what I said dip$hit??

You like to quote people so quote the WHOLE sentence idiot.

I ALSO said (in the SAME SENTENCE): “BUT MARKET DICTATES WHAT A PLAYER WILL GET”

How stupid are you donkey?? Oh ya this is the kid who said we should sell Leao for 40M hahahahahahahaha!!!! And the kid who touted his prolific goal scoring record (200 + goals) in the co-ed under 7 church league.

And if you think the potential of Thuram compares to that of Leao your more brain dead than we all thought.

Ya I guess I should lower my expectations of you @bb LMAO

  6. Does anyone know how reliable L’equipe is?
I notice we’ve seemed to increase our wage budget. I wonder how that’s going to play out vs the others that re-signed for cheap🤔

    1. Exactly. Time will tell.

Too bad we couldn’t have increased our wage cap sooner – we could have kept a few players and signed others last season – BUT Thuram is FREE – so skeptical we go that high for another prospect

    1. I also wonder about this, if this was a two horse race between us and PSG, why is that not an automatic yes to us? Does he need some sort of extra push for signing? Who else is running? Dortmund? Leipzig?

Thuram would be a good addition, but I just hope this get sorted out quickly. The more it dragged on, the less time we have to find alternatives and less time for them to acclimatize for the preseason.

    1. You keep saying this but it makes zero sense. If the aim of the club is only to increase its monetary value as you say, how will they complain that by becoming worse on the pitch?

  7. Thuram is a safer option even with high salary.. We sign him fore free, if he flopped we can always sell him next season for a profit
