Mediaset: Pioli wants €40m Fiorentina star at Milan but Celtic man is in pole

Milan’s transfer priority, for the time being, is the defence. Regardless of the potential departures, the Rossoneri want to bring in a new centre-back as Leo Duarte and Mateo Musacchio aren’t good enough.

According to SportMediaset, as cited by Milanlive.it, Stefano Pioli’s favourite has always been Nikola Milenkovic. The manager would like to work with him again but the operation is far from easy, as Fiorentina are playing hardball.

They are asking for €40m to part ways with the Serbian international, which obviously is too hefty for Milan. The latter are only willing to offer a paid loan with an option to buy, but the Tuscan side are holding out for a cash offer.

Under these conditions, it’s difficult to get Milenkovic. Therefore, confirmations have arrived on Kristoffer Ajer, who would be a lot easier to sign for the Rossoneri. The Norweigan centre-back is in pole position, in other words.
