Messaggero: Ibrahimovic weighing up attempt to sign Lazio forward on a free

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have joined the race to sign Lazio forward Felipe Anderson whose contract expires at the end of the season, a report claims.

Milan have always been attentive to potential low-cost opportunities having been stung by players leaving on free transfers in the past, and last summer saw another winger arrive from Lazio on a Bosman in Luka Romero.

According to what reported by Il Messaggero (via MilanWorld), the operation could be repeated with Anderson a target. In fact, they paper claim that it is Zlatan Ibrahimovic would like to bring the Brazilian forward to Milan.

The former West Ham United and Porto man is on an expiring deal with Lazio and at the moment there is nothing to suggest that an extension is imminent, which has attracted various clubs.

Ibrahimovic wants to understand if there are margins to be able to close the deal within satisfactory economic parameters, but Juventus also want the 30-year-old so there could well be some strong competition

So far this season Anderson has racked up three goals and seven assists in 30 Serie A appearances for the capital club, with an assist in the Champions League to his name too. He has 316 games under his belt with the Biancocelesti, and a return of 56 goals and 63 assists.

  1. Very unlikely for him to join us.
He’s a right winger and not a forward.

I don’t think he’d be a good buy for our team (getting old + high wage) unless we’re not expecting Chukw to improve much more and we’re gonna offload him.
Strong player offensively but very temperamental, he needs a team where he can be an undisputed starter otherwise he fades.

The only world where this mayyyyybe makes sense is if we sell Leao, then move Pulisic on the left and we want another player in our right wing.
But if we sell Leao, we’d have all the cash in the world to get someone better than Anderson. We don’t need help getting to a top 4, and he’s not the consistent type of player to get us Serie A or push us much further in CL

  2. I’d say sign him on a free, but he’s more a winger as what has already been said and he’s nothing special. His current season has been meh… he was better last season.

  3. I’ll start to think that Zlatan should leave player transfers to the other guys. The player is no upgrade and wings have enough depth, all better than Anderson. No point bringing him other than congesting the squad and playing an extra yearly wage. Thought Milan have past these sort of player transfers.
