Goal.com: Milan defender set to miss Torino clash through suspension

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw is set to be absent for the clash in the Coppa Italia against Torino due to a suspension, a report claims.

As has been reported by Goal.com (via Calciomercato.com), the German defender has actually got a suspension from his time at Schalke 04 before Milan signed him.

It was received in the German Cup last season and is still valid for the Coppa Italia as it has not yet been served.

There was a very real chance that Thiaw would get a rare start in the match seeing as the Coppa Italia is not taken too seriously by many clubs in Italy and he is not a regular starter.

Instead, Stefano Pioli will have to choose other central defenders to play the game, which could mean needing to use Fikayo Tomori or Pierre Kalulu when he had planned to rest them both.

The Round of 16 match takes place on Wednesday, January 11.
