MN: Pobega’s recovery takes another step forward with return to the field

By Oliver Fisher -

Tommaso Pobega has taken another step forward in his recovery and he could soon be back available to head coach Stefano Pioli, according to a report.

Pobega was given a rare start during a 3-0 win against Monza at San Siro at December and he played on the left of a three-man defence, but he lasted less than 30 minutes before pulling up with a painful looking hip problem.

It became obvious that it was more than just a muscle strain, and then the club announced that Pobega had undergone an operation – carried out by Surgeon Lasse Lempainen and observed by AC Milan Club doctor Dario Donato – to repair a tendon issue in his hip.

According to what is being reported by MilanNews, Pobega actually returned to the field today to do some individual work with a member of the Milan coaching staff, marking another step forward in his recovery process.

In the next few days, presumably after the match against Fiorentina (but there is not yet a completely defined timing), the former Torino loanee should gradually return to working in a group with the rest of his team-mates.

After the operation the expected recovery time was four months, so it is very probably that he will trim some time off that.

  1. Next year is make or break for this guy, he should be 100% during pre-season cause I don’t think there will be additional chances for him with a Milan shirt …
