By Oliver Fisher -

Tributes and reaction continue to pour in after it was confirmed yesterday that Silvio Berlusconi has passed away at the age of 86.

The former media tycoon and prime minister passed away in hospital aged 86 today, and we tried to relay what he meant to Milan in a feature earlier today, while we also picked out 10 of his best quotes as well as the best 11 players of his tenure.

Below is how the front pages of the papers in Italy look this morning…

La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Silvio Berlusconi 1936-2023. Goodbye to the President who won the most. At Milan, he achieved everything. The Man of the Stars. Champions, coaches, triumphs, beautiful football, TV and politics Tomorrow the funeral in the Duomo.

“Cairo: ‘An innovator, I will miss him’. Sacchi: ‘This is how we took on the world’. Abodi: ‘He was 20 years ahead of everyone else’. Scaroni: ‘His telephone calls inspired me’.”

Corriere dello Sport: “The game is over. 1936-2023. The death of Berlusconi closes a sporting and political era.”

Tuttosport: “I saw a King. Silvio Berlusconi: 29.9.1936-12.6.2023. He won everything with Milan: 29 trophies. ‘Genius, a dreamer and a visionary’.

“The coaches and his iconic phrases. ‘Tabarez? He’s good as a singer’. ‘The problem? Left-wing referees’. Carlo Pellegatti: ‘He was like Leonardo Da Vinci was for art. My record: I nodded 34 times’.”
