Il Secolo XIX: Genoa fans left San Siro early amid clashes with Sampdoria

By Oliver Fisher -

There was not just controversy involving AC Milan fans during yesterday’s game at San Siro as some Genoa supporters left the ground early too to attack rivals.

As Il Secolo XIX (via Radio Rossonera) report, the rivalry between Genoa and Sampdoria sometimes goes over the top and sadly it happened against yesterday, when the supporters of the two main Ligurian teams clashed.

On Sunday both teams took to the field: Sampdoria beat Reggiana and secured mathematic qualification for the play-offs, in an attempt to immediately return to Serie A. Genoa meanwhile emerged from Milan with a draw.

The paper states that the trouble all started when some Genoa fans were violent towards a Samp fan returning from the Stadio Luigi Ferraris after his team’s victory.

Having learned of the incident, some Sampdoria fans got together and went to the historic meeting place of Genoa fans, busy watching their team on TV.

The intervention of the police prevented the situation from degenerating beyond repair, but two officers were injured in the clash.

Once news of the incident reached some Genoa ultras, they immediately prepared a retaliation, even leaving San Siro early to be able to return to their city quickly.

Thus, the Genoa supporters went to the Sampdoria meeting point, finding it closed and empty. They then decided to enter, destroying the rooms, breaking objects and setting fire to a flag.

  1. Not sure that Genoa will be able to stay in Serie A now that they face bankruptcy, thanks to their American owner, 777 Partners.

    1. Like I said, nothing but xenophobic comments from this fellow.
Half of serie A is owned by people you don’t like.
Another club, Parma is about to join serie A too. Guess where are the owners from?
Serie A is having a boom in the last 5 years because of the foreign ownerships, especially from US.
The only 3 serie A clubs left in Europe Atalanta, Roma, Fiorentina are owned by guess who? 🤔

      1. I assume that you imply I’m anti-American. Maybe you don’t see my avatar since it’s small, it’s former USC Trojans and former NFL quarterback Matt Leinart. Please hide until Jerry’s next speech in Fortune about his new cash cow, I mean stadium, or our next big sale of a key player.

        1. Oh, not its about Jerry. I thought you were talking about the Genoa owners who are going to bankrupt the club who they saved from bankruptcy , brought it back to serie A, where they are in the middle of the table in their 1st season, just because where they are from.
Tell us again about the wall street bankers that also saved the club you supposedly support from bankruptcy. The Elliott group.
Tell us how it’s bad for Milan to build a new stadium.
You can hide behind any avatar you want.

          1. What a feud man we should drop diss songs like Kendrick and Drake. I’m tired now, enjoy your love story with Jerry/Jesus/Superman the lord and saviour.

          2. The only one that keeps mentioning Jerry is you, my guy. Look up the comments.
I’m talking about us ownership, 777, Elliott, but you always bring up Jerry.
Seems like you are the one obsessed with Jerry.

  2. The most brainwashed idiots on the planet are this ultras . Violent behavior, fanatics , full of hate for rivals and hive mind mentality…
