Official: Frosinone vs. AC Milan starting XIs – Pioli opts for consistency again

By Isak Möller -

Stefano Pioli has named his starting XI for tonight’s clash between AC Milan and Frosinone. It’s the fourth consecutive game that the manager has made this selection and that is understandable, given the recent form.

Milan are currently on a seven-game unbeaten run, almost making it five consecutive wins against Bologna, and Pioli has thus decided to opt for consistency. This means that Yacine Adli keeps his spot in the midfield tandem alongside Tijjani Reijnders, with Ismael Bennacer on the bench.

The Algerian has just returned from an injury and might come off the bench, but he’s certainly not ready for 90 minutes. Up front, Rafael Leao will be looking to end his goal drought, having not scored since September. Olivier Giroud, meanwhile, could make it three games without a goal.

Official: Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kjaer, Gabbia, Hernandez; Reijnders, Adli; Pulisic, Loftus-Cheek, Leao; Giroud.

Bench: Nava, Sportiello; Bartesaghi, Florenzi, Jiménez, Simić, Terracciano; Bennacer, Musah; Jović, Okafor.

Official Frosinone XI (4-3-3):Turati; Gelli, Romagnoli, Okoli, Brescianini; Mazzitelli, Barrenechea, Harroui; Soulé, Kaio Jorge, Seck.

Bench: Cerofolini, Frattali; Lirola, Monterisi, Valeri; Bourabia, Garritano, Reinier; Cheddira, Ibrahimović, Kvernadze.

  1. These teams just love playing us don’t they. Always come to us like a cup final but lie down against Juve and Inter

Btw that pen I get it but they really need to review those sort of plays. There’s nothing Leoa could have done on that play. The ball was too fast and his hand is in a natural position as possible

      1. Yep I agree. They need to come to a consensus once and for all. I don’t think that was a handball but I see why the ref gave it due to “letter of the law” they have to abide by. But imo it’s d.umb. they have the cameras now to see intent. If he used his hand to intentionally deflect the ball sure but he’s using his feet to tackle but the ball just happened to hit his hand 🤦‍♂️. Same for those ball that hit hand and it’s like 1feet away, how do they expect ppl to love their hands out of the way???

    1. They love playing against us because they know we’re fragile. If you believe you can, you will. They have belief, we don’t. Why don’t we? Because we always try the same sh!t and it doesn’t work. How many games have we seen where within the first 15 minutes it’s clear our “plan” is trash? Can you imagine having “prepared” for a week only to find out within 15 minutes that it’s not going to work? Life under Pioli.

  2. Well this is a horror show, we need big changes in second half. Kjær need to be dropped he haven’t been able to recover after his injury and everyone look like messi around him. Rather see Simic or Theo partner Gabbia at this point. We really need a holding midfielder, its just not working with two mazzala’s playing holding midfielders.

  3. LOL. And Maignan is asking for Leao money. Also, is this the beginning of the usual second half slump?! You know it’s coming. The signs were there against Udinese. The 2-2 against Bologna is the perfect jumping off point for these mentally weak clowns. Napoli next. Get ready for a hard February. We’ll be fighting for 4th by March. Pioli: DAI DAI DAI

  4. I hope some Pioli fan boy are beginning to have some rethink that this coach is such a zombie! It’s when he is being pressured that he makes tactical changes! Imagine preparing all week for this horror show!…. Man this is not Lazioooo, this is not your Fiorentina mentality you carrying about man!…. Leave this club, don’t you have shame😭😭😭😭

      1. I loved how it was his first Serie a goal and he just picked up the ball and ran to put it in centre for kick off.
Why? Because he wanted to win, not celebrate his first goal.
        Thats our captain right there!!

  5. Jovic is the ish. Just buy him, one of our best super subs who has scored some crucial goals for us. Giroud is great but is ageing. Get yourself another great striker and keep Jovic. Simple and effective strategy
