Official: Pobega undergoes successful surgery on hip – his recovery time

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have announced that Tommaso Pobega has undergone successful surgery to repair his hip problem and will be out for a few months.

Pobega was given a rare start during Sunday’s 3-0 win against Monza at San Siro and played on the left of a three-man defence, but he lasted less than 30 minutes before pulling up with a painful looking hip problem.

It was then confirmed after a scan that he had injured his left rectus femoris tendon, and reports emerged stating that he required surgery which would take place in Finland through a specialist.

Now, the club have announced that the operation – carried out by Surgeon Lasse Lempainen and observed by AC Milan Club doctor Dario Donato – was a complete success.

It is estimated the player will require four months to recover due to the nature of the problem and the length of the rehabilitation necessary.

That means that Pobega might not return until the beginning of May, for the last few games of the season potentially.
