Pioli confirms Bartesaghi is one of ‘internal solutions’ to give Hernandez rest

Stefano Pioli has confirmed that Davide Bartesaghi could be used as the deputy for Theo Hernandez this season. The youngster impressed so much during the pre-season that a new left-back isn’t expected to arrive.

Milan are working on the departure of Fode Ballo-Toure and while it has taken a long time, he appears to be the outcast closest to leaving. However, the Rossoneri are not expected to bring in a new left-back.

Instead, as was confirmed by Pioli during today’s press conference (read here), they intend to make the most of Bartesaghi. In addition, their right-backs are quite versatile and will be able to play on the opposite side.

“Bartesaghi is interesting, when he’s not with us he’ll go to Primavera. Calabria and Florenzi are also there as deputies for Theo, we have internal solutions in case of Theo’s absence,” he stated.

Bartesaghi will added to List B in the Champions League, since he was born after January 1st 2002. This means that he won’t take up one of the valuable List A spots and this is indeed a big plus for the Rossoneri. Of course, it’s also good that he’s homegrown for the Serie A squad list.
