Romano: Milan move definitively off the table as Lopetegui agrees deal with West Ham

By Oliver Fisher -

The Julen Lopetegui chapter can be put to bed for AC Milan because he will now join West Ham United at the end of the season, according to a report.

It was last weekend that reports emerged suggesting that Milan were in advanced talks with Lopetegui over the possibility of replacing Stefano Pioli as the head coach, with several major sources claiming he was the chosen one.

However, what followed was a mass outpouring from a rather vocal group of supporters making it clear that they were against the idea of Lopetegui joining, believing that he is not the right man to take the club to the next level.

Then the reports stated that Milan had taken a step back from their plans to hire the Basque-born coach and were instead evaluating other candidates, showing just what a delicate and confused time this is.

According to the latest from Fabrizio Romano, Lopetegui has agreed terms with West Ham to become new head coach replacing David Moyes from next season.

Lopetegui has accepted the proposal from the Hammers and he is now ready to proceed to the formal stages. The last details are being finalised then the contracts will be signed, but he stressed that an agreement is in place.

  1. Those who rejected and heavily criticized Lopetegui coming to Milan will have now to sit back and enjoy another highly paid Portuguese garbage manager the was marketed by Mendez to drive Milan back to where it was before Pioli.

At the same time just watch what Lopetegui will do with West Ham

    1. pfffttt ive always respected and liked west ham whom if they didnt sell all of the youth prospects could actually be a force to be reckonned with but truth be told you are most likely dreaming here.

  2. Great interview he gave with sky UK when he was still at wolves where he started how important it was to coach in epl which has the best players managers and fans in the world and that his first and ONLY choice going foward was to manage in the epl no matter what.

So was this Ac milan link ever legitimate?
because he didn’t come across as a guy who would be interested in management in seria in any way shape or form?
