Sky: Milan will try again for Buongiorno – three counterparts were discussed

By Ben Dixon -

Seemingly, AC Milan’s chances of capturing Alessandro Buongiorno had fallen to slim to none in recent days. However, today, there has been an emergence of new information, which could make a deal possible.

The latest instalment of the Buongiorno story comes much sooner than expected. Reports had said that Urbano Cairo was unlikely to accept a January sale, at least with Milan’s current offer in mind (€25-30million, made up of cash, and the inclusion of Lorenzo Colombo).

The Rossoneri are believed to have offered a deal to the central defender, and whilst it was not met with a yes, it was not met with a definite no. What is meant by this, is that reports have suggested that the 24-year-old is not willing to force a move out of respect to his current club.

However, this morning, Emanuele Baiocchini spoke on Sky Italia about Pioli’s requests for a defender and the options that could be used in a deal for Buongiorno – his comments were relayed by MilanNews.

“Pioli is repeatedly asking for a defender. The club will want to satisfy him.

“Milan won’t make a defender just for the sake of it. If they have to take him to try to cover the emergency of these months they’ll go for someone on loan who can relaunch in these last months of the season, otherwise, they’ll try to make an operation that is good for the present but also for the future,” he said.

Pioli and Milan’s favoured option…

“Buongiorno? Milan will also try in the coming days. They have tried to bring [Jan-Carlo] Simic, and [Davide] Bartesaghi into the talks with Torino, but the problem is that Toro is only interested in [Lorenzo] Colombo and the valuation the devil makes of the Monza striker is higher than the one Cairo’s club makes.”

  1. Baffles me as to why we need a CB. We have Gabbia and Kjaer. I get Pellegrino won’t be getting anymore playing time even if he recovers before the others. But if things get really bad we have Simic. Plus Theo is there too. This is not counting the guys coming back in a couple months. The only reason I could think of is if they’re planning to sell one of them, which my guess would be Tomori. So maybe best to blood the new guy now. Otherwise, we’d have way more CBs than we need 🤷‍♂️

What I also don’t understand is why we’re trying to loan out the only left back (Barts) that can give Theo some rest.

    1. I think what the management try to do is to find both CB and first team material kind of player. If they want to sign any CB just for the sake of filling the injury gap, they could easily find any player with loan kind of thing. We lost both of our starting eleven CBs, so it’s logical to find a replacement that can fill the void. All due respect to their back ups.

Specific for the case of Buongiorno, I think they really try to close the deal this winter also to avoid his price goes more inflated next summer. And looking on his performance, hype surrounding him, and the crazy president backing him up all at once, hard to think the otherwise. Plus he knows the league well and we reallly need someone who can immediately blend without the adaptation balderdash.

Buongiorno, Tomori, Thiaw, Gabbia, and probably Simic sounds good if we really want to challenge the title next season. Kjaer won’t be renewed (altho I hope the contrary), Kalulu can be operated as RB, and Pellegrino will most likely go on plan.

  2. Keep Simic out of this please. I’m OK with Barte leaving because he doesn’t look like much of a LB. More of a CB. Simic is solid though.

  3. This is the most brain dead plan since Piolis lineups. Why would we give away our young future like simic and bartesaghi? Ridiculous, just put your money where your mouth is for once if we really think he’ll be that good for us. If you don’t think he’s worth it, don’t buy him.

  4. Would rather offer a swap deal with Kalulu for Buongiorno, then we keep Colombo.
Kalulu + whatever difference they want, get it done before Buongiorno gets too expensive.

  5. Dude does not like Gabbia. Never did. Thats why he’s “insiting” on another cb even tho we dont need one atm. Cant wait for the summer when we finally cut this baldy out
