CorSera: Sacking Pioli and staff would cost Milan around €10m

By Oliver Fisher -

While it now seems certain that Stefano Pioli will leave AC Milan at the end of the season, the leadership must find an agreement with him and his staff to terminate his deal early.

Today’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) recalls that the Rossoneri coach still has one year left on his contract, which runs until 30 June 2025, and that means that they will have to sack him should they look to move on.

THe paper estimates that Pioli and his staff – between salaries and taxes – would cost the club around €10m in order to terminate their contracts early. Finding an agreement on severance pay may therefore not be easy.

Meanwhile, Pioli continues to be linked with the Napoli job. Speaking yesterday at a press conference on the eve of the match against Genoa, Pioli declared: “Do I like pizza? I like cappelletti in broth, I’m from Parma. As long as I have a contract with Milan, I won’t talk to anyone else.”

If he were to become the Napoli boss or get another job then it would mean Milan no longer need to keep paying him, so the management might just be hoping that he isn’t out of work for long.

  1. I Hope we stay with Pioli for the last year left on his contract because he deserved more respect. The management should rather be blamed. No way Inzaghi could make a top 4 with this Milan squad

    1. Dear lord, why would willingly subject Milan to another season of the S05 formation and get the ball to leao tactics? Not to mention minimum 2 more humiliation at the hands of the ugly merde from across the street? Are you certain you’re a Milan supporter?

    1. That is correct or at least has been the practice if a coach is sacked in Italy he is basically kept on the payroll until he either gets a new job or his initial contract has run its course.

  2. People need to understand Pioli needs to be sacked, our game play is dead, our players will continue to decline, and he will end up burning all the young players we have, he needs to leave…
He has nothing more to this team and the club..

  3. It’s called damage control and in the greater scheme of things it’s not that large of an amount in transition.

I’m sure Cardinale can process that. (Of course it’s easy when we play with house money)

    1. This means absolutely nothing. Last year Sarri had 22 wins 8 draw 8 lost. Where was lazio this years?

And Sarri is 3 times the manager Pioli is was or will be.

      1. Milan management is not serious about building a squad to win the league. they just want a place in the UCL where they can get revenue and recruit young players who can be sold next season. Pioli has carried out that direction. That’s why Maldini and co were fired because the current management didn’t want to spend any more money. thanks
