Thiago Silva happy with Milan’s Champions League progress: “Sempre forza Milan”

By Oliver Fisher -

Thiago Silva has revealed his delight as his former club AC Milan secured a place in the semi-finals of the Champions League last night.

It was back in 2009 that Silva moved to Milan and he won the Scudetto in 2010-11, forming a brilliant pairing with Alessandro Nesta, but in 2012 he left the Rossoneri and joined Paris Saint-Germain in a deal widely reported to be worth over €40m.

In 2020, he signed for Chelsea on a free transfer and won the UEFA Champions League in his first season at the club. However, the Blues are not having as good a season in 2022-23 and they were knocked out by Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the competition last night.

Thiago Silva spoke to SportMediaset after the game at Stamford Bridge and was asked about what Milan’s qualification for the Champions League semi-finals means to him, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

“I’m happy for them, it’s been a long time since Milan played in the Champions League and they’re doing very well. Now let’s see if we can it will be a Milan derby in the semi-final, it would be important for the city of Milan, but sempre forza Milan. Unfortunately I can’t be 100% happy because we were eliminated. But I’m happy for Milan,” he said.

  1. If only Berlusconi didn’t sold this guy to PSG, he would still play at Milan. Imagine him playing with Kjaer, Tomori, or Thiaw.

    1. LOL. If only he also hadn’t sold Shevchenko, Kaka, Ibrahimovic, let Pirlo go…The list goes on. Obviously they needed to sell, and eventually needed to sell the club itself. It’s a pointless statement.

      1. No no no. Berlusconi doesn’t need to sell Thiago, Kaka, Sheva etc if his financial management doesn’t sucks.

Sure those cases already in the past and there’s nothing we can do about it. But for current Milan management, they can used Berlusconi as the lesson of how not to make the same mistakes and fall in the same hole.

    2. Berlusconi financial are fall down after he is no longer prime minister. Berlusconi wealth not much if compare with abramovich ( ex chelsea owner) or psg / manc city owner. He need to sell AC Milan to highest bid due to financial situation

      1. No no no. His financials failed not because he’s no longer prime minister but because he sucks at managing the club money and didn’t pointed the right coach.

You must be remember when Berlusconi spent a lot of money to loaned Beckham for two seasons and in the end it was for nothing. Then all those 3rd rate players in the dark age because Galliani got seduced by Raiola words.

Milan under Elliot shows that a football club can still have a success without spending too much and keep the balance in check.
