TMW: Milan to miss out as Chievo star nears Sampdoria move

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan look set to miss out on one of their targets as Emanuel Vignato is closing in on a move to Sampdoria, a report claims.

The 18-year-old broke into ChievoVerona’s first team last season, making 10 appearances as they were relegated from Serie A without a fight.

He impressed during his brief spell, amassing a goal and an assist, and reports in June from La Gazzetta dello Sport stated that Milan are battling Inter and Bayern Munich for his signature.

In August, il Corriere di Roma ran a story stating that Lazio are interested, along with Milan, Sampdoria, Bayern and Barcelona.

Then, Rome-based paper il Messaggero (via Calciomercato.it) provided an update by claiming that Lazio were the favourites to land the Italy U18 international.

However, as per Tuttomercatoweb (via MilanNews.it), all of the aforementioned clubs look set to miss out as Vignato is closing in on a move to Sampdoria.

Eusebio Di Francesco is understood to be a big admirer of the player, and he is set to travel for a medical ahead of an official announcement before Monday’s 22:00 CET deadline.
