The mercato, especially considering the top-value players, is a really difficult thing to partake in, as a buyer and a seller, and Milan are no stranger to this. On too many occasions they have overpaid for talent, and on occasions, they have underpaid (and made a profit) in the long run.
Then, there is the market for current players, and valuing them is no easy task. For example, Theo was once valued at €80 million, as Calciomercato.com recalls, a player at the top of his game with a few years left on his contract. However, this valuation has now changed.
After a difficult start to the season and some ‘very poor performances’, his value has understandably dropped. It is, by no means, a case of the Rossoneri ‘being willing’ to sell Theo, but with the current variables, the club would not accept less than €50m – a €30m drop on their summer minimum.
Manchester United and Real Madrid are both keeping an eye on the situation, and this could cause the Diavolo to extend his contract, solely to get more money from a transfer.
