While there is an important Champions League game on the cards tonight, the speculation about Santiago Gimenez joining AC Milan continues.
As Calciomercato.com report, the agent of Gimenez – Raffaella Pimenta – wants to leverage a promise made to the player last summer. Feyenoord said they were willing to let the striker leave in the event a big European club came in, and now Milan have he is pushing to leave.
A first bid was rejected by a second offer will be made this evening by Giorgio Furlani if the Rossoneri finish in the top eight in the Champions League. The club intend to raise the stakes and reach €35-40m, not all immediately and guaranteed but with bonuses included.
The absence of the CEO for tonight’s game in Zagreb is a confirmation of how the negotiation is alive, ahead of ’72 decisive hours’. It is perhaps proving to be more complicated than expected, though the board are working intensely on the second offer with the awareness that no final decision will arrive before Thursday.
At this stage Gimenez has given absolute priority to Milan and his objective is to play the derby against Inter on February 2. ‘El Bebote’ has put on hold several proposals from France, the Premier League and Saudi Pro League.
While waiting for Thursday, the 23-year-old has already made his desire clear by reaching an agreement with the Rossoneri over a three-year contract with an option for a fourth year at €2.5m net per season.
Can’t wait for the result
Wake me up when January ends
Get Jonathan David, Adeyemi and Ricci too. As far as I am concerned Theo and Leao should be sold this summer along with Okafor, Chukwueze, RLC and Tomori. Abraham can go back to Roma unless they give us Soule for Salaemakers.
If we win UCL Cup, you can have ’em.
I love how people mention players they haven’t seen play. Adeyemi is garbage. All pace and no brains.
You are absolutely correct
Oh, so another Origi. Darn.
A disappointed player, an angry club, frustrated fans.
Nobody will deal with us after this deal inevitably goes down the drain.
Let me guess what our great offer will be. 25m plus bonus up to 35m. 5m paid now, 15m in summer and 5m next year, with bonus if activated to follow years down the line.
How could you turn them down?
Unless you are a club like Feyenord fighting on both domestic and european level, who do not want to sell unless they get an offer they cant refuse. Happy to wait till summer to cash in
Thats more money than you will ever see n your lifetime bro. You talk about Millions of euros like its nothing. Get real for f sake.
What a silly comment. We are taking about a business that generates billions.
Last year’s profit was €4.06 million.
I’m not talking about Milan. I’m talking about professional football. Complaining about clubs spending millions because we can’t personally spend it also means you can never criticize a player because you can’t personally play that well.
That IS the reality – Feyenoord can cash in, in the summer after Santi turns in his best season yet – PL club will snap him up for well north of £40Mill
He may not be interested in PL. Maybe he only wants Milan with his second choice to not move at all.
So you suggest Milan should offer 700€ for him? As that is realistic? From which planet you are? :DDD
What a hilarious post. You know this is a forum about football yeah?
Sorry to burst your bubble but in my business things are traded regularly in millions
What a foolish comment you posted.
So brain deficient
RedBird has certainly made a lot of mistakes so far and the way they underestimated the importance of the culture surrounding Milan has been severe. But all the criticism of their approach to transfer negotiations is overblown. It is not a negotiation if you immediately pay whatever the asking price is. Need I remind people that they got Okafor for 14m when RB Salzburg was among 35m. We got Pulisic, the teams best player for about 1/3 of his market value. Reijnders for 20m which again is about 1/4 of his current market value. Main target last season was Fofana and we got him. When CDK was main target, we got him. You can criticize the transfer targets as being somewhat unambitious, and I would agree, but I don’t find much fault with the way they negotiate fees for players. Zirkzee is sitting on 4 goals and 2 assists for the season right now. Tammy has more goal contributions than him across all comps and has been pretty mediocre. Again lots to criticize about RedBird, but not this…
*Reijnders 1/3 market value.Typo
This isn’t summer, where we have the luxury of waiting and dragging negociations even if it means getting the player late and having him missing preseason like with what happened with Fofana.
This transfer window closes next week and so far we only got Walker. Feyenoord has NO reason to accept anything less than 40M€. They’re still in UCL, They’re playing domestically for Eredivise or at least a UCL spot and they’re not desperate for money. Giménez value isn’t decreasing and they can sell him in the summer anyways.
In addition to that, we don’t even need to go for Giménez, we can go for Lucca and Prati/Ricci/Frendrup for about the same price.
If we don’t get at least a midfielder before the end of the transfer window it will be catastrophic because Fofana and Reijnders are being run to the ground while Bennacer and Musah aren’t reliable, so I don’t understand how can we let RedBird of the hook on this one.
Speak for Musah, not Bennacer. He had been out injured for a while and obviously needed time to get match sharpness which we’re already starting to see.
Again the track record speaks for itself. So far RedBird has gotten all their primary targets save for Zrikzee and have paid at or well below the states price. They deserve the benefit of the doubt in this area at least….
Yes their track record speaks of why they shouldn’t be given the benefit of the doubt and why they’re deservingly being criticized.
First, amongst the primary targets, they missed both Taremi and Thuram. The latter is by the way better than whoever we ended up with.
Second they acquired their targets in the summer where they had the luxury of waiting and dragging indefinetly.
Third, most of their primary targets were average or below average players for which we had no competition and who pressured their teams to sell them.
Pulisic was the best player they purchased but at that time he was a player almost always injured who had his value significantly dropping and Chelsea wanted him out anyways. But I’ll give them this one.
Reijnders was the most hyped of the targets, but outside of FC Barcelona which he refused no one really wanted him. But I’ll also give them this one.
Chukwueze is so far mediocre.
Musah is so far average at best.
Loftus-Cheek is average and was as injury prone as Pulisic and Chelsea wanted him out.
Pellegrino played like 20 minutes and then was out.
Okafor was cheap and in no one’s radar.
Jimenez is cheap.
Jović was for free.
Romero was for free.
Abraham was on loan.
Morata had a 13M€ clause. We didn’t even need Atletico on this one.
We had no competition for Pavlović and up until recently we could see exactly why.
Emerson… don’t get me started on this one.
Fofana wasn’t acquired for below the market price and we kept dragging so much that the player missed the preseason and a game and was out of shape because he didn’t train with AS Monaco, just to pay what AS Monaco asked in the beginning.
So, so far they have like 2 or 3 good purchases out of like 15 players. The only thing Moncada, Zlatan and Furlani deserve for this is to be sacked. If Cardinale is serious about this club, he’ll sack them and get a sporting director.
“First, amongst the primary targets, they missed both Taremi and Thuram. The latter is by the way better than whoever we ended up with.”
A complete lie. They were never primary targets, they were both already talking to Inter. Taremi has scored 1 goal in 16 games so you can stop pretending he was a big loss.
yes but it is hard to praise them espically with many failed signings and the one i never truly understood why that idiot moncada was searching 6 months for the worst rb in premier league tammy and morata has been a flop
When we got those players they weren’t valued that much. Pulisic value had decreased to the point where we paid right about his exact value. His value may have increased afterwards sure but the value at the time was around what he was worth. Same for Reinjders. He wasn’t worth 60m then ( and probably not now either) but he was worth around 20-25m …which was what we paid.
You guys conflating increase in value over time with the price paid at purchase
Milan’s second offer was 27 million+5 million in bonuses and it was rejected already…
This website already mentioned that Stuart Little (Furlani) will stay in Milan because there is some work not related to transfers…
Why this website always lie
Is hoax really a bad habit/cyber cr***
Huge mistake. Santi is not a top player at all. The Eredivisie is a stat padding league.
Fofana missed the preseason because of the Euros, it wouldn’t have mattered one bit when Milan signed him. Stop being a damn liar.
Fofana is not worth the money we spent on him. Check how many mistakes he makes in the matches. He is slightly better than Pobega.
Ridiculous comment. Go actually watch the games..
??????
Will he available for CL squad or will he only play in Serie A for us?
The board should just get us players that are worth the money and ate ready to sacrifice their play for Milan.
Yeah great!! Let we get a Jovic x piatek 2.0!!!
The way milan operates in the transfer market makes me want to retch every time i read about it. Can we please treat with due respect other teams with whom we want to do business? If psv want €40 million for Gimenez, why offer €20 million as a start? Who the fukc does that idiot furlani think he is dealing with – some brainless idiots like himself?
Those kind of people are referred to as “tyre kickers” or “time wasters”
More like yourself. You do know that this is how most clubs negotiate, right? No, of course you don’t because you’re oblivious to how things work in the real world. The ONLY target that we didn’t get was Zirkzee and that wasn’t due to the transfer fee, it was due to the agent’s commission. It took Real Madrid years to finally get Mbappe, because they refused to pay a transfer fee, and you think Milan can simply go out and buy who they want and happily pay the asking price. You’re beyond naive.
maybe but offering 20 m when they want 40 m would just think that we are a joke when we offer half atleast offer 30 m to open the negotiation and mbappe and madrid is a compleaty different situation mbappe was 200 m meanwhile we are struggling to offer 35-40 m?
Milan lose against dinamo so he wouldn’t come this month.
