AC Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara left Belgium without an agreement for Charles De Ketelaere, and without having made much progress at all.
According to HLN (via MilanNews), Maldini and Massara arrived at 12:35 in a black Gulfstream Jet at Ostend airport, departing shortly after 18:00 and without an agreement for De Ketelaere to take back to Milan Linate airport.
The source adds rather worryingly that ‘there is still an abyss’ between what Milan are willing to offer and the requests of Club Brugge, despite the persuasion attempted today by the Rossoneri directors.
The negotiation has not gained momentum as per HLN, but it hasn’t stopped either. The next few days will make it clear how much Milan are willing to commit in order to beat the competition and make De Ketelaere their first major summer signing. An effort economically will be needed therefore to unlock the situation.

It’s not about one player versus another player. We all have our opinions on who we should sign. This is about M&M spending countless months scouting and identifying players that “fit” our team and culture and our (ridiculous) wage cap – then ownership doesn’t provide M&M the funds needed to make the purchase. Whether it was Koné back a few years ago for 10m or Faivre for 15M or CDK now for 35M – it’s not about the player per se it’s about ownership. Doesn’t look good. It’s obvious M&M really want CDK – they wouldn’t spend all this time and effort on him otherwise – so then back your executives who say he’s the real deal. We all knew how much he cost. Teams are not just going to give us favorable discounts for no reason. CDK has 3 years left on his deal. We either pay the fee or go sign someone else. There is no magic “discount” to be had. This ownership creates drama for nothing – we are “sending a plane” to go get CDK – then we don’t get him LOL. It’s fkn Embarassing. Other clubs (like Juve) just get the deal done. Sold De Ligt – same day signed Bremer and didn’t blink at the price. If we are having this much trouble signing one player we have little hope IMO moving forward. I know some of the sheep will say “well we won last year so don’t be so doom and gloom” – that’s not the point. Last season was last season. We all start over now. Big historic clubs don’t say well we won’t title last year so it’s ok to take a few years off lol. This new ownership knew what club they were buying. What I am saying is to trust M&M and give them a reasonable transfer budget (70-100M not 40m) and an increased wage cap to keep up with the rest of the clubs – and they will continue to build us a winning club capable of sustaining success. Without that players will eventually leave/be sold and we will look for cheap alternatives and start over again. That would make us Atalanta. Run for Profit not for titles. Perhaps that was/is Elliot and Redbird’s MO all along. Sad
The problem is Redbird doesn’t own the Club, Elliot owns it. Elliot has no reason to invest in an asset that will be sold. Redbird doesn’t even know if they will own it. That’s why we don’t have funds Available. I don’t want Redbird, I don’t want this sale to go through.. Redbird clearly doesn’t have the money to even buy the club. What are they gonna invest? After being a fan for 40+ years I am embarrassed. Surprised AC Milan paid for the flight to Belgium.
Both are absolute cancer owners, the only reason they didn’t accept investcorp because investcorp didn’t need Elliott so Elliott would be no longer even mildly in control of Milan. They chose Red Bird because they knew in terms of money, their pockets were shallow so they could come in and offer Redbird loans and etc in return of a significant % in the club.
