AC Milan announce CEO Ivan Gazidis has been diagnosed with throat cancer

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have announced that club CEO Ivan Gazidis has been diagnosed with throat cancer.

A statement on the club’s official website confirmed to supporters and stakeholders that our Gazidis has been diagnosed with throat cancer. Based on an extensive series of promptly performed clinical tests and investigations, doctors predict that he will make a full recovery.

Ivan will remain operative during the necessary treatments in specialised clinics, with the full support of the ownership, the president Paolo Scaroni and the club management.

Gazidis even spared a message to the AC Milan community as part of the news, showing good spirits and a confidence to beat the disease.

“Of course, there is never a good time for a cancer diagnosis. But luckily it looks like a very treatable form. A high-level medical team will follow me and I have the support of my loved ones and all colleagues and collaborators of the Club: I am confident, on the basis of all the first medical consultations, that the tumour will be treated successfully, with a complete recovery,” he said.

“My diagnosis demonstrates the importance of regular medical check-ups, even if you have no symptoms. I feel I can really encourage everyone to give priority to their health and not to underestimate prevention, even in the daily obligations of life and work.

“We have a strong team, both on and off the pitch – underlined Ivan – and I have full confidence in their ability to carry our Club forward in the coming weeks. See you soon and always Forza Milan.”

The statement ended with the board and the management of the club, its employees and collaborators, the technical staff, the coaches and the players of Milan wishing Ivan all the best for a full and speedy recovery. We at SempreMilan would like to extend these well-wishes too. We are all with you, Ivan!
