Mediaset: Milan, Barcelona and PSG in a three-way battle for €20m teenager

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are in a three-way race to sign talented Aston Villa midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka, according to a report.

Chukwuemeka is just 18 years old and has been playing for Aston Villa since he was 12, but it seems that he now wants a change of scenery and there are a number of clubs keen, especially after he helped England win the U19 European Championships last month, with a goal in the final against Israel and a place in the team of the tournament.

According to what was reported by SportMediaset (via MilanNews) this afternoon, the Rossoneri are indeed in the running to sign the teenager, but his asking price for the current summer market is high because of the competition.

Villa are asking for around €20m to sell despite it being within a year of the expiry of his contract, because the England U19 international is part of a three-way battle involving the Rossoneri, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

You can read more about the player here as we spoke to an Aston Villa academy expert on what Chukwuemeka’s situation his and what he is like as a player.

  1. Just wait until the end of the transfer window. And then, Milan will buy him at a cut price. For sure.
Aston Villa are just dreaming in colour here.
This position is not an emergency at the time being anyway

  2. Do psg try and steal all the players we go for? They might have money but that doesn’t buy talent…..or champions league titles…

    1. If he’s smart, he should choose us at this point of his career. PSG and Barcelona won’t give him game time at his age and low experience level. MILAN has proved willing to give young players a chance to develop and we have done well with Leao, Bennacer, Theo, Tomori, Tonali. PSG and Barcelona has more money but he won’t get to play.

  3. Call me naive, but I think Milan is a real draw these days. Of course I’m not a money driven entitled young footballer so perhaps I’m off the mark a bit, but any young player will know that they wont get games at PSG, and bArca might not be here soon once they’ve mortgaged off all the family silver…they also have a ton of midfielders. Chukwuemeka seems like a grounded kid, he’d do well here and learn a lot..I really hope we get him and Pioli gives him games

Milan has a proven record of taking and playing youngsters much like Dortmund. All they have to look at is Kalulu, Leao, CDK, Tonali and Tomori to know that they will get the chance

    1. True. CDK saw our project with Tomori, Tonali, Leao, Theo all below 24 and being already among the best in the world.
Milan developed Donnarumma well. We are now a place that can develop young players and I think Tomori can help us with this deal.
He lacked game time in Chelsea and came to Milan and now he’s the best.

      1. The key is keeping them, and not just being a stepping stone. It worries me that De Bruyne is in CDKs head, is he saying do two years at Milan then one to City..? The football world is vulgar, fickle and money driven. There are no more Maldini’s, Baresi’s, Giggs, Le Tissiers or Bergomi’s

  4. His contract is running out meaning they must sell. However, it’s been reported he wants like 100k Euros per week which Milan certainly won’t be able to pay.
We can afford to buy, but salary is too high for us.
He will end up at like Spurs or something.
I watched him in the Euros and yes, he is very good for an 18 yr old

  5. He’s not coming to warm the bench, if we’re thinking of spending 15-20 million for him, the question is who will be leaving.
We’re focusing on the buy part but we’re going to create space for the newcomers.
I have a feeling that before the end of the transfer market Diaz and one of Bennacer/Krunic will be gone.
If I’d have a dollar to bet, the likelihood would be
    1. Bennacer
    2. Diaz
    3. Krunic

    1. Krunic won’t start. Besides, we have to play Serie A, UCL and Coppa Italia… There is enough games for everyone to play. We need a big deep squad to continue moving in the right direction

  6. I don’t think he will warm the bench, we aren’t blessed with the finances to buy bench warmers. Everyone will play their part. He may ask for 100k per week but he can either choose to never play for PSG or Barca, or play for 30k a week….

The prem is getting ridiculous the money thrown around, 6m per year is an average salary.

Something in the football world is going to go pop soon and change the whole thing, I suspect it will be Barcelona, but it’s currently on sled destruct. It’s one thing Bury going out of business, but imagine if Barcelona do…Maldini and Massara won’t spend that much on a player who won’t make an impact.

  7. He is good but we will stupid if throw 20m euro for 18 years player ( contract only 1 years left) . Better try 10m euro offer first with bonus 2-3m euro . If aston villa rejected go wait next season for free transfer. He will get play time in AC Milan due to bennacer maybe out because still not renew contract
