The AC Milan Women lost their curtain closer of the season to the current Scudetto holders, Juventus. Though they fought valiantly, they lost the match 1-2 at the Vismara. They end the season with a defeat and will finish third in the standings.
All the team can do now is look forward to next season as they try to learn from the mistakes they made in this one.
Here is a summary of their final match of the season below…
The formations

Juventus (4-3-3): Aprile; Hyyrynen, Sembrant (64′ Skovsen), Nildén, Lenzini; Pedersen (64′ Cernoia), Zamanian, Grosso (75′ Rosucci); Hurtig (75′ Girelli), Bonansea (64′ Arcangeli), Stašková
The match
Milan started off well and created many chances in the first half. Their opening salvo came just 40 seconds into the match, as Lindsey Thomas forced Roberta Aprile off her line to prevent her from scoring. About 12 minutes later, Thomas tried to send a Bergamaschi cross into the back of the net. Sadly, she failed to do so.
The Rossonere had another chance at the 28th-minute mark as Greta Adami tried to curl in her attempt from the edge of the box. Her shot narrowly missed the target. It was the guests, however, who took the lead, as Annahita Zamanian’s left-footed strike flew past Laura Giuliani, who is also her former teammate.
Giuliani managed to get her fingers on the ball, but ultimately, had to use those very same fingers to pick the ball out of the net. Martina Piemonte would come close to equalizing for her team before halftime. Much to Milan’s dismay, she did not score.
After the halftime interval, the tempo of the match dropped, though that wouldn’t prevent Juve from picking up where they left off. Shortly after the second half began, Juventus would score again, as Sofie Pedersen latched onto a loose ball and fired it past the goalposts. Juve were now ahead 2-0 on Milan’s home turf.
As the match wore on, the two teams started to struggle with the heat at Vismara, although both Piemonte and Bergamaschi had back-to-back opportunities in the 68th minute. The Rossonere would eventually net a consolation goal in additional time, as San Francisco kid, Celeste Boureille, connected with Sara Thrige’s cross and headed the ball into the net. It was her second goal in two consecutive games.
The ref would then blow the full-time whistle and Milan would find themselves suffering defeat at the hands of Juventus for the fourth time this season.
The stats
Milan ceded the ball to their opponents during this game, as they only had 31% possession compared to Juve’s 69%. Though they didn’t have the ball much, they registered nearly the same amount of shots as their adversaries, as Milan had six while Juventus had seven. They both had two shots inside the 18-yard-box.
The key difference between the two sides is that Juventus managed to score both of their chances. Milan only managed to convert one.
