AC Milan 1-0 Girona: Follow the action with our live commentary

The Champions League pursuit continues for AC Milan this evening as Girona are up at San Siro. Of course, the Rossoneri will be looking to make it five consecutive wins and you can follow the action with our live commentary.

Following two defeats at the start, Milan have won their last four games and thus have a good chance of finishing in the top eight. That would mean a direct spot to the knockout phase, rather than having to take part in a play-off tie.

As said, Girona are up this evening and Sergio Conceicao has made a couple of changes to the starting XI, one of which was forced. You can follow the action from San Siro with our live commentary, as published on X, and hopefully we will have a win to celebrate at the end.

      1. Calabria is by no means the caliber of player we need in this team but compared to Emerson. He is looking like a rockstar.

    1. Yep unfortunately any slim chance we had of signing him has likely gone with Feyenoord likely adding a few million to his price tag after tonight

  1. That’s what some people don’t understand when they say Rafa is not scoring enough. He should have had many more assists than he has because his companions keep failing him. He set up Musah in perfect position to score. No defenders close to him, the whole goal open in front of him, only the goalkeeper there. Instead of shooting, Musah whose football IQ is low, decides to cross to nobody.

Any SLIGHTLY better player than Musah would have scored, thus granting another assist to Rafa.

This is extremely frustrating. What the hell was Musah thinking???

And now Rafa sets up Theo perfectly, who sends it too high and hits the crossbar.

By now Rafa should have had 2 assists.

  2. If we really were in negotiations about selling Emerson (which I doubt) then we’re now a walking advert about why players are left out of games if they are in discussions with other clubs…

  3. I’m not able to watch till the second half – is Emerson’s injury serious? Like will he fail Medicals? I’m more bothered about that than the match result (🤣🤣🤣joking)

    1. Haha I feel the same way. It’s incredible bad luck if we can’t get rid of Emerson due to an injury late in the transfer window.

      1. Looks like a hamstring 2 months minimum if its pulled. This will not only have ramifications for this window but summer also.

  4. Rafa is now frustrated that his perfect quasi assists weren’t converted so he tried to score on his own but missed. He could have passed to Morata but I guess he’s sick and tired of seeing his companions missing sitters after he sets them up nicely (Reijnders missed another perfect setup by Rafa last game, too).

    ———

Maignan avoided a certain goal by Girona.

  5. So then Rafa next time tried to pass to Morat who produced a horrible wide shot directly at a defender.

    ———–

And then he scored. Could have had 3 assists and 1 score. Got one score.

    Great assist by Bennacer.

    1. It’s not that he over-complicated it. He first considered passing but he must have thought, “three times I set up my companions nicely and all three of them missed sitters; f… it, this time I’m taking the shot.” And he scored.

    1. That’s not realistic. He can’t simulate an injury not to be sold because doctors have objective ways to look into that, like MRIs. If the injury is not serious, there is no way to fake it that it is. Medical science these days is pretty advanced. An MRI can look at muscles, bones, and tendons. If no injury is demonstrated by the MRI, then there isn’t any,

  6. How was that not a foul, Mister Ref? Their defender clearly pulled back our attacker. Incredible, as that would have provided a good scoring opportunity for Theo or Tijjani, as the foul was very close to the box.

  7. Wow, Mike Maignan avoided 3 goals by Girona. Helped by Fofana in one of them.

A victory is by no means secured. Our offense missed 3 sitters and scored once; our defense gave away 3 great opportunities to Girona; thankfully our goalkeeper saved them.

So the first half could have been all the way from 4-0 for us to 3-1 for them.

    1. Pavlovic has good straight line speed but his lateral movement is quite bad. He’s very stiff. He just doesn’t have the agility to play in a back 2, back 3 yes but not 2.

    1. Yes Pavlo’s lateral movement is not good, Fofana has to sit a bit deeper, Reijnders as well, he’s being wasted that far forward. Our players are isolated when they hit us on the counter.

  8. In other news, Milan reportedly offered 15 millions for Gimenez but was of course rejected. At this stage, this is not even negotiating. It’s straight disrespect. Clowns.

  9. Save by VAR, this offside rules and VAR become like a meme worthy lmao, imagine offside by a toe and next probably a nose hahaha.

  10. I hate the fact that Emerson pick up a Injury. His sales will be put to hold.

I see mo reason starting a player that’s on the market

  11. Every single minute that passes, the questi9n becomes even larger. WHY TF was Emerson playing?! Why would you jeopardize one of the onlybways your gonna have money for the transfer window? Absolute clown show…

  12. Pick up Emerson today was a really a plain STUPID decision, frankly… if Calabria had 90 minutes in his legs, why the hell not put him from the start?!

    1. Greedy management wanting to add any excuse to charge more for him, probably hoping he’d have a decent game for once. Now it backfired…
