GdS: Milan want a Lazetic-esque signing for the defence – German U21 international targeted

By Oliver Fisher -

Every couple of days a new target emerges for AC Milan in their pursuit of a new centre-back and they could make a Marko Lazetic-esque coup, a report claims.

The Serbian striker will officially become a new Milan player in the next few hours, and La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) report that the management are looking for a similar profile for the centre-back role, namely a talented young player who arrives in a low-cost deal but can grow without pressure, and Malick Thiaw of Schalke 04 is the target.

He would cost just €5m despite the fact he has started 20 games for Schalke in the second division. In the previous two seasons, Thiaw had also racked up 23 Bundesliga appearances and now Milan are working to try and beat the competition to land the 20-year-old.

Whether Thiaw arrives or not, it seems Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are looking for a young defender who is a potential starter for the future rather than right now, as opposed to a more experienced player on loan.
