Agent suggests defender will only leave Genoa for a ‘very important’ team ‘like Milan’

By Oliver Fisher -

The agent of Genoa defender Radu Dragusin has claimed that his client should aspire to join a club like AC Milan in the future, given how well he is doing so far this season.

Milan find themselves in a great defensive emergency, with the likes of Fikayo Tomori, Malick Thiaw and Pierre Kalulu all not returning before February or March, and Dragusin is a name who has repeatedly linked.

The 21-year-old has been one of their best performers after they bought him from Juventus in the summer for around €5.5m plus bonuses (via Wiki), and this has earned him interest from around Europe.

Dragusin scored the goal that earned Genoa a good point against Inter last night and after that his agent Florin Manea spoke in an interview with Sportitalia about his client’s future.

In Italy there is talk of teams like Roma and Atalanta, in need of a defender. Is that a good landing spot for him, or is he aiming even higher?

“In my opinion, if he leaves Genoa, he must do so for a very important team. I’m talking about one of the top 5-6 in the Premier League, the top in Italy like Inter or Milan.

“I mention these names as examples, not to say that they have interested. They are very strong teams and we would be happy if they were interested in him. Let’s see, now think about working.”

Can you confirm that Italian teams also called?

“Yes, there are also Italian teams interested in him, I can confirm it. As I was saying, first of all Genoa must be happy. Then it is normal that at that point it would be up to me to carry on the talks. If they arrive, they arrive, otherwise we are very happy.”

A couple more things are worth noting: Manea confirmed back in October that Milan had asked for information about the Romanian, while Fabrizio Romero is reporting today that Spurs have opened talks over the former Juve man and could send a bid soon.
