Agent of Andrea Conti reveals summer offers; future of his client

By Oliver Fisher -

The agent of Andre Conti – Mario Giuffredi – has revealed why his client chose not to leave Milan this summer.

The Rossoneri full-back was heavily linked with an exit during the recent transfer window but eventually remained at the club.

A report from Calciomercato.com stated that Werder Bremen had made an official offer for the 25-year-old, adding that Tottenham’s Serge Aurier was being lined up as a possible replacement.

It was also stated by Sky Italia that the Bundesliga side were not alone in their interest as Parma were also interested, though they did state that Conti had decided to stay at Milan regardless.

Now, Giuffredi has lifted the lid on just how close his client was to leaving Milan this summer, insisting that Conti is ready for the battle with Davide Calabria to become the first choice right-back.

“It is true, there were opportunities,” he told TMW, as per MilanNews.it.

“But then how could he look in the mirror? Going away from Milan meant going away defeated, and I always told Andrea that he must have as his objective returning to his peak and being able to look back without regrets in the future.

“But he’s fine now, he’s behind Calabria, but the important thing, like for horses at the racetrack, is to finish first. Don’t start first.”
