Cristian Zapata is set to join Genoa when his contract at AC Milan runs out, his agent has revealed.
The Colombia international has reportedly turned down offers from Sampdoria, Bologna and Sassuolo, and now looks bound for Genoa due to being ‘convinced by their project’.
“Cristian has given up the chance to play for so many other teams and a lot of money because he is convinced by the project that Genoa have,” the Colombian’s agent Ivan Cordoba told the Secolo XIX newspaper.
Zapata is expected to pen a two-year deal with Genoa and will join on a free transfer once his deal at Milan expires on June 31, however he will not formally put pen-to-paper until he returns from the Copa America in Brazil.
The 32-year-old spent seven years at San Siro, making 148 appearances during his time with the Rossoneri.
