Agent suggests Moncada wanted promising Inter duo in 2020

As is football, there will be players that clubs will scout heavily and end up missing out on for whatever reason, and AC Milan will have experienced this. In a recent interview, an agent suggested that the club missed out on a duo to rivals, Inter.

Since joining the club, Geoffrey Moncada has had an evident scope for youthful talent, and the rumours about him looking at the Carboni brothers adds to this theory. The duo moved to Inter in the summer of 2020 and have developed quickly.

Franco, the older of the two brothers, spent the first half of the 2023-24 campaign on loan with Monza but struggled for game time, so he moved to Ternana. On the other hand, Valentin, born in 2005, has featured occasionally for the Biancorossi – during his loan spell, has scored twice and assisted three times.

Luca Nigriello, a FIFA agent specialising in Argentinian football, spoke to TV Play about the duo, and his words have been relayed by Radio Rossonera.

Milan’s interest in the Carboni brothers…

“The Carboni brothers are players that I have always followed since the two of them were young, then the cases of life and circumstances separate you… But in any case, I continue to have an exceptional relationship with them.

“Milan were the first to take an interest in the boys with Moncada. He came with me to have a meeting with them, then other reasons didn’t make the deal close, so Inter were lucky because of that,”  he said.

“Before bringing Valentin to Milan, I had also proposed him to Napoli, who rejected the idea of bringing the whole family to Italy. It is not easy to wrest them from Argentina. I also spoke with Milan, but in the end, Inter were the ones who accelerated things and took the boys.”
