Albertini believes Milan were ‘on par’ with Liverpool at times in promising return

By Isak Möller -

On Wednesday evening, AC Milan made their comeback in the Champions League after seven long years. It ended in defeat, which didn’t come as a huge surprise as they took on Liverpool at Anfield.

Still, the Rossoneri managed to find the back of the net twice and showed that they can score even against the best teams. Having said that, they still have a lot to work on and it will be interesting to see the clash against Atletico Madrid.

In an interview with today’s edition of Tuttosport, as cited by MilanNews, Milan legend Demetrio Albertini spoke about the game against Liverpool. Although the Rossoneri struggled at times, they also showed their qualities in some instances.

“I liked Milan, it was their return to the Champions League and in some moments, they even played on par with a great team,” he stated.

Milan will have to recharge their batteries as they will face Juventus on Sunday evening. It won’t be an easy game away from home, but the Bianconeri have had a terrible start to the season so Stefano Pioli’s men are the favourites.
