Evergreen Giroud and a first since 2004: All the key stats from Milan’s win against RB Salzburg

It was a special night for AC Milan at San Siro as they completed their mission of reaching the Champions League Round of 16 with a 4-0 win over Red Bull Salzburg.

Olivier Giroud got the scoring underway with a header from a corner and he turned provider for Rade Krunic to score his first ever goal at San Siro. The Frenchman then doubled his tally with a close range finish before setting up Junior Messias to complete the rout.

➤ Milan have reached the Champions League knockout stages for the first time since the 2013-14 campaign.

➤ The Rossoneri have won two consecutive Champions League matches for the first time since October 2011 (both 2-0 home wins over Viktoria Plzeň and BATE Borisov).

➤ For the first time in his career, Olivier Giroud has scored and delivered an assist in the same Champions League match. The French forward is also the first Milan player to score at least two goals and deliver at least two assists in a single match in the competition since 2003-04.

➤ Prior to Olivier, the last player to have scored at least four goals in a Champions League campaign for Milan was Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2011-12 (five).

➤ At 22 years and 178 days old, Sandro Tonali is the youngest Milan player to have delivered an assist in two consecutive Champions League appearances since 2003-04.
