It has been publicly announced by Igli Tare that AC Milan want a striker, and Massimiliano Allegri might well be in a hurry to get one in.

As Calciomercato.com report, the priority will go to fixing the midfield after the sale of Tijjani Reijnders, but the intention of Tare is to give Allegri a high-level centre-forward to complete the attacking department.

The Gimenez problem

Allegri needs to evaluate Santiago Gimenez on the training pitch. Due to his characteristics, having watched him in action last season, the new coach seems to think that the Mexican does not fit 100% with his idea of what a centre-forward should do in his system.

Allegri would like a striker capable of coming to meet the ball in the build-up, but also of going quickly to occupy the penalty area. Gimenez is more of a finisher, and isn’t a player that should be dropping deep or drifting wide to participate in the play.

There is no prejudice, obviously, and the outlay of over €30m made in January cannot be squandered, but Allegri needs to see him in action live to understand. The ex-Feyenoord player will not be there at the start of the training camp, however, as he is still busy in the Gold Cup with Mexico.

They are in the quarter-finals against Saudi Arabia and the final is scheduled for July 6, a day before the start of the Rossoneri’s training camp. After that, the ex-Feyenoord star will then take advantage of the right amount of vacation time.

At the start of the season, therefore, Allegri will find himself working without a true No.9 and, also for this reason, he is trying to push to get a signing. Several paths that have already been opened and Dusan Vlahovic remains the most serious, while Lorenzo Lucca and Mateo Retegui are liked.

    1. Inlove Tammy Abraham. Great attitude, great in build up play but my issue is his poor finishing. He isn’t world class in finishing.

  1. Darwin Nunez on loan would be ideal. The exact type of striker Milan usually thrives in having up front 👌

    1. I supposed Darwin first goes to.play for Napoli then we can take him… I preffer Garnacho, Noslin or Rodrygo for attack by now. Rabiot for center and Luka Pelegeini for left back …

  2. If you want a striker that can help with the build up than Retegui and Lucca are probably worst than Gimenez.

  3. I love how they are dragging on this until the season starts. It’s just matter of accepting the coach’s need or not, they’re Really taking their time with ease. haha 😀

  4. Why is this an “either or” situation? I don’t get it Jovic is gone, I’m guessing Abraham is going to go back to Roma as his loan ended, and Morata doesn’t seem to want to come back in any hurry. We’re pretty much down to just Santi….so we still need another striker regardless 🤷‍♂️.
