Massimiliano Allegri sent a message to all of the young players at AC Milan during his press conference earlier today, previewing the game against Perth Glory.
Milan have just one friendly left of their Asia-Australian tour and it’s scheduled for tomorrow, taking on Perth Glory in Perth. After facing the big English sides Arsenal and Liverpool, Allegri is expected to make some rotation to the XI and that could mean seeing some of the youngsters.

So far, the manager has already placed great faith in some academy names, giving Mattia Liberali, Christian Comotto, Matteo Dutu and Vittorio Magni – to name a few – playing time. Lorenzo Torriani can also be thrown into the mix, but he was already part of the first team.
In any case, when asked about the young age of this squad during today’s presser, Allegri said that it’s more of an advantage than anything.
Will it be possible to include young Italians in the squad?
“The term ‘young’ in terms of the transfer market is abstract. If someone is good, they play. We’re a very young team, however, and that’s a good advantage for the future.”
The old image of Allegri, shared by many, is that he prefers experience over potential but we haven’t seen any signs of this so far. It might become more evident when the season actually starts, but the feeling is that the manager has evolved in his coaching.
It looks like this every year. They play all the youngster, they look great, and then we never see them again. They either sit on the bench for the whole season or are loaned out. I think they mostly play the youngster in preseason as an advert so they can sell or loan them to other clubs.
If we don’t sell players, “young” players won’t get playing time. We have about 8 midfielders:
– Ricci
– RLC
– Fofana
– Modric
– Bennacer
– Musah
– Bondo
– Adli
We need to sell around 5 of these players for any of our youngsters to even have a chance at the first team.
Last year, they signed Vos. Is he ready for the first team? Even if he is, he would probably never get game time.
All the reports say that Allegri wants a smaller squad. Without this, the young players will never have a chance.
Adli has been demoted to the Futuro team probably as an insentive for him to go and find himself a new club. Bennacer seems on the verge of going to Saudi Arabia depending on which reports you read but doubt he would be registred either way. Musah and Bondo who knows, I could see Musah getting sold while Bondo gets loaned out.
Either way Youth players shouldn’t expect to play wek in week out but more getting some chances here and there and then its up to them to grab the sparring chances they get.
Most of those players will bench themselves after a few games

At Milan, wearing the shirt comes with responsibility. If you’re old enough to earn a professional salary and play at San Siro, you’re old enough to be held accountable. Mistakes from lack of effort — not boldness — are unacceptable.
Pelé won a World Cup at 17. Mbappé at 19. Malala was shot at 15 and won a Nobel Prize at 17. Anne Frank wrote her story at 14, hiding from the Nazis. None of them had the luxury of “making mistakes because they were young.”
Being young doesn’t exempt anyone from commitment, personality, or focus. Either you carry the weight of the shirt, or step aside for someone who understands what it means.

Soft mentality
Accepted but the management is managing their growth poorly.
Can we speak the same about how Barcelona and Madrid manage their own youth player or the small European league Milan go to to shop young playera from and pay transfer fee.
Milan youth player are either sold for peanuts or release them for free or terminate contract.
The goalkeeper Vasquez for example and other futuro players . Who knows what might happen to Libareli later.
Camarda as a Barcelona or even Benfica player not to mention greedy ass Club brugge will be tagged with transfer fee of 40-50m
Allegri did bring in De Sciglio, Cristante and El Shaaraway so there is some hope.
I actually think Cristante would’ve stuck around if Allegri had been sacked in the 13/14 season.

At most a crappy fullback like Bartesaghi/Calabria/De Sciglio make it out of necessity on those positions
Good attacking players like Liberali and Comotto get shafted
Back in the banter era it was Mastour who got shafted, and before that Aubameyang who found big success in other clubs
Just a pathetic and cowardly club who is always scared to give midfielders/attackers from our academy a chance
