Allegri responds to idea of a ‘psychological breakdown’ at Juventus and Milan being ‘too strong’

By Oliver Fisher -

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri believes that his side simply committed too many errors as they were beaten 2-0 by AC Milan at San Siro tonight.

Juve actually started as the better team on the night as they had numerous half-chances to open the scoring, but they allowed Milan to grow into the game and Fikayo Tomori’s opener just before the interval ended up being a just reward on the balance of play.

Brahim Diaz got a second goal not long into the second half as he pounced on a stray pass, knocked the ball beyond Leonardo Bonucci and finished with a composed finish through on goal, and in truth the margin of victory could have been wider if not for some wasteful finishing.

Allegri gave his post-match presser in the conference room at San Siro and he dissected what was a disappointing and sloppy performance from his side, with his comments relayed by MilanNews and translated below.

Juventus were only in the game for 25 minutes, were Milan too strong?

“The team did well in the first 25 minutes, then we started to pass the ball back. Then we didn’t concede much, apart from Leao’s runs. We conceded a very avoidable goal, as well as the second. Right now, in where you are not healed yet, where you start well and have important situations in which you choose badly, in the long run you pay for it. Too many technical errors.”

What worries you the most?

“We need to react immediately, because there is an important match on Tuesday. We have time to fix the season, we need to fix it and we will do it.”

You said ‘try to remove five starters from Milan’ as a defence for bad performances…

“When we lose we have to keep quiet. I think Juve technically played a good match.”

Are you worried about this psychological breakdown?

“There is little to do, you have to react. On Tuesday there is an important match and then there is the derby. If, in a match like this, you do not take advantage of the opportunities… a dead ball and in the second half we made the same mistake. On a psychological level it is normal for the games to change.”

Did you expect such a step backwards?

“In some way, we have to get out of this situation: by hook or by crook, but we have to get out of it. It is not a question of playing well or playing badly, but of reacting, winning tackles.”

  1. Imagine being Vlahovic, able to sign to milan last transfer window, and be the hero we needed

Instead, he went to juventus and become a pepega instead.

    1. Couldn’t imagine where we had that 80 mil of fresh money to begin with. But yeah, he would have been superb in Milan.

  2. Allegri seems to completely clueless, not knowing what to do, apparently unable to make an efficient tactical reading of the game… plus his team really is psychologically in tatters. But anyway, so much the worse for them, we played a great game, thank God.

    1. Origi is so bad. He got a chance against a tired and destroyed Juve defense, but he took an idiotic shot instead of passing to Rebic for a tap-in.

  3. Just keep losing and make your players angry snd want to leave then give us Vlahovic and Chiesa. ST and RW solved for years.
